Ok I'm a little confused...my truck also says set to expire 4/13/2023 as well. (like snakebitten)

But I was understanding that hands free would be free/included for 36 months. Does this mean mine will expire on 4/23? Or will there be another update pushing it further?

Correct, I believe it's just a fail safe to make sure you're on the most recent map versions. You will see future updates that push the hands-free driving out further

Anyone know how long should it take or do I wait for OTA updates, before having to invest in a mongoose and going the DIY route to get BC working?
If the truck is updated properly, you’ll have it immediately. If the dealer says they did the updates and you still don’t have blue cruise (first check all settings to make sure it’s enabled) then you’ll probably have to go the mongoose FDRS route.

OTA updates are a crapshoot

I do have auto updates enabled and do have schedule turned on but BC is still showing 10/09/2022 with SYNC software version 22082_PRODUCT Revision 411. Can I assume the dealer didnt update anything? When I drive on hiway is says Blue Cruise avail but it is not hands free and is only active cruise with pic of hand on steering wheel

The auto updates are incredibly random. BC users do seem to get more frequent updates than non BC users, but there's no real rhyme or reason to when they appear. Someone else on here may have better info and suggestions than jumping straight into a $600 investment, so I wouldn't pull the trigger without the info from other, smarter people.

Any insight @Snakebitten @antho @RickBullotta or anyone else?

I'm not sure exactly what is required to get that December date to advance, nor do I know why my truck successfully advanced to April 2023.
It could be because of me doing my own FDRS updates, rather than waiting on OTA. But if it is that reason, I don't know exactly which update was responsible for the Bluecruise date advance. Nothing in FDRS is labeled or documented as being related to the Bluecruise subscription.

Isn't the unique procedure that Jesse describes as using Forscan specifically for the date advancement? If so, that implies that it's not as cut & dry as someone receiving an OTA update or manually pushing one with FDRS. Instead, there's some unexplained reason that some trucks advanced and others didn't.

I wouldn't recommend purchasing a mongoose just for the map date advancement, but instead you should consider having one for all the past reasons, which this and other threads are the evidence, as well as all the future reasons that are sure to reveal themselves as time unfolds.

I don't think we will wake up tomorrow and discover that Ford OTA has suddenly become reliable, nor that dealerships will be welcoming us with open arms to address our module update desires. :)

THe update is Screwed. THere si a real issue with it.

THe people that had the date change to the newest expiration had an extreme delay. The Date change was apart of the HKC update.

So when we got the date change come to find out it should have changed when we installed hte update.

Ford has once again screwed it up. I am able to make the ddate change because I have found a way to isolate teh maps file and install it alone to force the date change.

Ford could do this too. It would take them 5 seconds and would require zero effort on their part.

I dont understand ford and their goofball ways of doing things. They are trying to prevent I guess hwat I did to add BC but its a joke because look at what its done to everyone else. While I still can load the maps anyways.

Ford will have to release another update before march or april. They should jsut send out map update independently.

My maps are still from September, so it made me believe that everything was out of date and that the dealer didnt actually update anything. How can I check or know if the dealer did in fact update my software, before I go pointing fingers and switch dealers?

I’m in the same boat as you. Maps are from Sept and I took delivery in November (May build with chip hold). I went ahead and updated everything through FDRS last weekend and the maps still haven’t updated yet.

I think someone mentioned at one point the GWM needed an update and then it would take a series of cycles to kick off a refresh, but I could be wrong.
