Don't Break a Tail Light Cover. Replacement = $1200!

I recently was loading a snow sled in the back of my truck. As I did I hit the tail light and I put a small quarter size hole in the light cover. I went to buy a new replacement cover and found out it was $1,200. CRAZY!!! I cant imagine what a more important part is....

Ouch! Is that because it was only sold as a complete unit including the bliss? I wonder how long before someone releases an aftermarket replacement lens only.

Yes, They just don't sell a lens only. They make you buy a light kit.

Car companies know you cannot drive without headlights or taillights legally and they are usually the first thing to break in a wreck

I remember on my wife’s 2006 Camry the little plastic latch for the center console armrest/lid broke.... $1,500.00... we just wrapped it with a bungie cord.

Literally just broke mine taking BBQ out... what I appreciate MOST is the 2mm lip of red plastic of the lens that overlaps the black piece of the tail light assembly.... just enough for something to hook on. Well thought out Ford... I'm sure the engineer that designed that got promoted straight to accounting.

At some point the guys with the 3D printers will be producing replacements for less. Seems like $1,200.00 might be past that "point"...
