I ordered mine with the start/stop removed. ($50). Might be a dealer thing. Not certain.

I didn't order my truck, but it did come with it disabled, I have an extra wide camera button instead. The dealership I got mine from had 3 regular cab 5.0's on order with it disabled, but the crew cab models they had on order didn't have it disabled.

Start /Stop is NOT cylinder deactivation

Start/Stop is when the engine shuts off at a light/stop sign and restarts when you let off the brake

I understand that. F150's with auto start/stop have a 4 buttons above the center screen (maybe more if fancy?), one of them is for the start/stop, isn't it? My truck only has three buttons, but one of them is twice as wide as the other two.

The window sticker will say: AUTO START-STOP REMOVAL - 50.00

I might have preferred to have it with the option to disable via the button, but it wasn't easy getting a 5.0 regular cab that wasn't white with an 8 foot bed.

To be clear, the Auto Start/Stop has a button on the dash. Cylinder Deactivation should be turned off in sport mode, but does not have a physical button.
Is there any documentation on this? Would be great to know if it also applies in tow mode too.

Due to the chip shortage Auto-Start-Stop could be removed as an option to be able to receive an order quicker and you'd receive a $50 credit, your fuel mileage would be revised on the window sticker. On my custom build I had them remove it, and yes I too just get one giant camera button.

It does turn off in tow mode as well. I'd have to google it to find the 'official' Ford speak on it. Anyone who has removed the stock exhaust, can confirm.

Bumping this thread to confirm that 21 XLT seems to not deactivate the cylinders when in T/H or sport mode. But, I'm only a couple hundred miles in on the new exhaust (flowmaster Fx).

Really? Honestly, I can't feel/hear mine. I can only tell when the MPG jumps to 30... How do you notice it? I want to watch for it in mine
I just put an AFE cold air intake and Borla S-Type exhaust on my 2021 5.0 and I'm pretty sure the cylinder deactivation makes it sound like it's misfiring. When I get on the throttle it sounds great, but when I'm just cruising it usually sounds like a sputtering old pickup. I have 20,xxx miles and I keep it maintained.

I'm looking for a way to disable cylinder deactivation to see if that makes a difference in what I'm hearing.

Since posting this, I have changed my exhaust out as well. I can hear it now. I would explain it like downshifting WAY to early in a manual trans (more than an actual misfire) but I could see someone explaining it as misfiring as well. If you put it in Tow/Haul and manual shift, you can drive the same stretch at the same speed/gear and hear the difference - ie same stretch of road at 50 mph in 9th gear (just straight T/H might keep the trans in 8th or something). Sport mode and T/H both turn off CD

I was concerned about Cylinder Deactivation but after 10K miles and $7.00 a gallon gas… I’m fine with it.
(28MPG hwy on my 5.0 RCSB when I’m nice to her)

As far as A.S.S. goes… yes, it can be annoying but not anywhere NEAR as annoying as a $120.00 to fill my tank!

I had considered installing the A.S.S. eliminator and still might but for now I use it more than I don’t.

https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/ford/products/2021-ford-f-150-autostop-eliminator

It doesn’t completely disable you’re A.S.S. but makes it “default” to whatever your last mode was.

Plus... it's worth noting that your starter has been completely redisigned to handle the extra cycling.

Try this for a temporary fix and maybe permanent if you don't mind the warning light. Start at 4:00 in video.

I tried that yesterday but it didn't work for me. Those guys have a later video where they explain that it doesn't work for everyone. Leaving it in sport mode works, but it burns a lot more fuel with the almost constant higher RPM's (which is still enjoyable).

I did just find a possible solution this morning. This company livernoismotorsports.com has a tuner that seems like it'll solve the vast majority of my complaints (air/fuel ratio, speedo calibration, transmission programming) with some added HP. They're on backorder right now but I'll get one ASAP.

Interesting, I didn't see the later video saying it didn't work for everyone. I'm hoping Forscan will come out with something in the future to turn it off.
