Mine only does it on my utility trailer, not camper with electric brakes or boat with 4 prong surge breaks.
Replaced wiring and complete lights on utility trailer and it still does it. I'm suspecting ground connection, somehow. ???
Chasing grounds is a time honored profession... Take apart all grounds and sand paper them and tighten down real good.

For me, it was moisture in the connectors back at the hitch. I dropped the spare tire, pulled off the trailer light connector and put dielectric grease on the pins. Put the connector back in place into its bumber mount, and haven't had a problem since. There are videos on how to do this. Took me 20 min.

Dielectric grease should not go on the pins. The best place for it is around seals. Remember, dielectric means it doesn't conduct. It is a sealing compound.

The dealership did some updates and cleared some codes yesterday on my truck and it did not pop up on my commute this morning. The service manager told me on the phone they got some advice from Ford on what to do. Fingers crossed.
