Well thanks for the informative post @TN Rotty

Odd that what looks like a complex feature actually moves up the build date.

Crazy you can get a 40k Edge with AS, but a 60k Lariat…

Glad to help where I can. We're all in this together.

Regarding AS - exactly - these are already crazy times and lack of info makes it worse. So we've got to do our own research, because it's a rare sales rep that knows their product inside and out and is willing provide that info.

I'll also start this with, I may be wrong, but... From my research and thread posting back and forth, nope. AS is sometimes confused with Adaptive Cruise and the Co-Pilot stuff (lane keeping, road following, evasive steering, etc. which all involve steering).

Adaptive Steering (AS) is a form of power steering that makes a turn of the steering wheel at lower speeds (like trailering maneuvers) equate to the front wheels turning more. At higher speeds, there is less assist and steering is "normal" turning effort.

This is a Ford video on it:

Prior to April 2021, AS came standard with Plats and KRs and Limiteds. After Ford's April Order guide update, Plats, and KRs no longer had AS as a standard feature, instead it was a $1000 option. Limiteds kept it as standard.

The bad thing about all of this, is no one knew, UNLESS they happened to see and read the updated order guides This included sales reps... And the Ford Build and Price to this day does not have AS shown as an option...but it is an option for 2 trim levels.... So a number of people ordered KRs and Plats, looking at old info (prior to April) thinking it came with it. When the KR and Plat limited availability for scheduling came about due to Ford having AS modules, but not regular steering, a number of customer were unaware, and sales reps didn't know either, thinking the trim comes with AS (but not after April....)

Reading through the Order guide, I've not seen anything that shows it being an option on Lariats or below (or part of packages). If you see it there - let me know. I'm more than happy to learn.

This is what I see on the latest Lariat order guide for the Co-Pilot360 :

Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist 2.0
• Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control
– Stop-and-Go – Lane Centering
– Speed Sign Recognition
• Evasive Steering Assist
• Intersection Assist
• Connected Built-In Navigation1
Note: Forward Sensing System not included

@JPNewIn22 - Apologies if my write up appeared to be pointed. I was quickly trying to provide info to the point when I had limited time and may have come across as too pointed - not my intention.

Best of luck!
Thanks for this. Love the depth of info. Definitely not on my Lariat 501a mid package so no worries. Still no update on my

There are so many variables in when a vehicle gets scheduled it is impossible to guess but based on how I read the "order list" data it is usually a few months for most trucks before a vin with some outliers. The Plats and the KR tend to wait longer than the Lariats which are longer than XLT.

I ordered Platinum 5 1/2 foot 701A PB screw in August. Like others on this forum I have been moved to MY 2022 and given a priority code of 2 for my order with no love yet. I was made priority code 2 in November. Others ordered in November and have a VIN and build date.

Interestingly I have followed the blue oval forum scheduling notes quite closely. (I like to torture myself.) There seems to be a moving target for scheduling with the adaptive steering on KR and Platys levels. I talked to my dealer about adding it (I'm in the Detroit area) and my dealer said I was locked out of making changes which they hoped meant I should be scheduled soon. That was late in Nov. At that time the dealer talked to the regional scheduling rep was told that "adding AS won't make a difference at this point."

According to Ice-Capades who posts the scheduling notes on the "blueovalforums" they are a combination and summary of multiple messages that are sent from Ford to dealers daily. This is sometimes region specific. He also does NOT update and relist every commodity shortage every time they occur or go away.

I am not an expert and refer you to those forums for more details on how the order process goes.
As I understand it it goes like this. You order a truck. Your order is reviewed and accepted or rejected by ford. If accepted it is assigned a priority of 19 which is the slowest priority. Your dealer can change this up to a 10 which is fastest a dealer can get it done. It also means you are likely put in front of other orders from their own dealership unless they change those orders as well. A regional scheduler can get a better number like a 2. It appears many older MY21 orders have been switched to MY22 and bumped to priority 2. What that means? Who knows except it is supposed to tell Ford to schedule it faster.

Your dealer gets daily messages with commodity restrictions. (They get them for every vehicle line every day according to one dealer I talked with).
On Monday or Tuesday a dealer gets notified if they have an allocation of vehicles to be built and how many that is. Usually the lowest number priority that has no commodity restrictions gets the slot. That being said if your dealer wants to be pro active they can follow those notes and call you and tell you if there is something you can adjust that is holding your truck up.

Sadly it appears many dealers don't do this. They have other trucks on their list that will fill their alotment. Even more cynically they may have alterior motives to move someone elses build up and not tell you what holds you up. Example if you have someone willing to pay 2000 over msrp it is in their interest to have that truck built before your x plan discount. If your dealer's kid wants a new truck today and you have been priority 19 for 2 months the kid gets it first cause the dealer can use their allotment to fill a priority 10. A bigger dealer may have 5 trucks allotted this week while a small one 1 or 2. But that bigger dealer may have 5 times the orders to fill so trying to guess big dealer vs small to place your order is a crap shoot too. See what I mean about trying to figure out when you will get scheduled?

This is the long way of expressing what RED TXV was saying when he said, "welcome to the madness of the wait game"
