Question, I custom ordered a new f150 lariat which should arrive at the dealership in the next few days. I have the window sticker so what can the dealer try to addon? Just trying to protect self what they can add or can not add.

Anyone gets the chance I thought the Rouge plant tour was amazing! Kudos those those on the line..

Thanks in advance

Dealer can do whatever they want.

If they don't make you a deal you agree to then walk away. You have no contract to buy custom orders but it is in their best interest for you to buy something others might not want. You have the power, use it. Walk from any deal with BS and I bet they call you back in another day...

Call your salesman and ask. When I was looking at trucks I could not believe the crap dealers put on trucks and the price they wanted. I walked away from many trucks that had the right options but not paying $1500 plus for BS crap.

If you custom ordered and they try and throw on add-on accessories when the truck arrives without your consent, that’s a sleazy move. I’ve factory ordered a F150 and Yukon and neither dealer tried to do that.

You might want to call your salesman or the dealer and tell them you will NOT pay for window tint fabric protection ect.. Many dealerships automatically add a 'pack' on every vehicle sold. I would ABSOLUTELY ask for your out the door price so you don't find a bad surprise when you are actually signing paperwork.

If you don't take delivery you are not responsible for payment. Simply refuse to take it with any add on's that you didn't approve. They'll want to make it right to close the sale.

As others have stated it is not the removal of items that you need to worry about, it is the dealership addition$.

Like Bossharp says give you salesman a call and just let him/her know that you do not want anything added on and you are letting them know so they are aware. You should have an agreed upon price for a specific truck with specific options and that is all you want and agree to pay for.

The add ons are between you and the dealer. Ask what they are and how much and make the decision. My last ordered vehicle (a 22 Explorer) had a pack that included tinted windows, all weather mats and wheel locks for $500. It was a fair price and I wanted those items anyway.

One thing to check on though is whether Ford had a price increase between when your order was locked and when the truck was built. Some dealers will try to pass this increase on. Don’t fall for it. Once your order is locked the price is protected and Ford settles up with the dealer on the back end.

I’ve ordered my last 4 vehicles and they didn’t try to add anything until the finance guy gets you in his office.

There are many videos on YouTube on this very subject. If the dealer adds stuff to the truck you do not or did not order, deduct those cost from the sheet if they say they can't, get and walk away as fast as you can. They will come running faster after you. Last, if you are trading in your vehicle, wait until the last minute after the agreed upon price. Once they have your keys, they have you.

Call your dealer, get your salesperson's and their manager's eMail address. Then send both an eMail stating: "I do not want, do not require, nor will I pay for any dealer additions during the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). When the vehicle arrives, perform only the manufacturer required PDI and notify me when the vehicle is ready for pick-up. - Any and all additions the dealership makes to the vehicle, to include their removal, will be at dealership cost."

Also, when in financing, keep an eye out for any, "dealer prep" or "documentation fee" add ons. - In that this is a "clean" vehicle, straight out of the factory, the $1995 shipping costs and mandatory state taxes/fees are the only cost that should be added.

Me too!! Getting "quotes" from dealerships in Florida all had higher and frankly mysterious fees added.

If you did not have a contract or at least a piece of paper with a cost out on it, you're out of luck. You are stuck with their "good will." Some dealers will honor that, others are shysters... In any event go in ready to take delivery, with what you believe to be the agreed upon price, and put money on the table. If he jacks up the price, be ready to walk away. Some dealers, if they see money on the table, are reluctant to let you out the door...
