My truck has been sitting at a rail yard in Markham IL since Tuesday and now my delivery date range just got pushed back. I just don’t understand how Ford can mishandle logistics so badly, especially after it’s been over 9 months since my order date
Its sitting at a rail yard. This has nothing to do with Ford. Thats on the rail yard.

I don’t agree.

Most vehicles shipped from Dearborn that are going to the Chicago area are shipped via convoy. But for some reason Ford chooses to ship via rail car to the Milwaukee area even though it’s only an hour further than Chicago. It’s incredibly inefficient for such a short trip, as evidenced by my truck being stuck in a rail yard for a week now. It’s poor logistical planning by Ford.

you are the first I've ever heard of that is shipped via rail to MKE area. Its always been to IL and then picked up by a semi and delivered. Both our dearborn builds and 1 kentucky build were rail to IL then a semi truck.

Where is the final destination?

If it went BNSF to bluisland, it is likely changing carriers, if heading east. BNSF does not operate east of Chicago.

I created an account on BNSF website and was able to track to blue island. Here it went CSX to final railyard in NE Ohio.

Ford only had info to the transfer yard at blue island. The BNSF web and Ford both show that status.

The truck was just offloaded and is waiting on a truck to dealer.

Not if there are not enough trucks to handle all the shipments.

Congrats on finally getting yours. Ultimate destination is Houston so needs to go south. BNSF has auto facility in Houston so might be stuck with them whole way. Hopefully same as yours where it is in transit somewhere and tracker just hasn't been updated. Nightmare trying to figure out sale of my current truck and get financing in place.

mine took two weeks by rail to get from Dearborn to Omaha. Then it sat in Omaha for another 2.5 weeks till it finally got picked up and trucked 150 miles to my dealer. Ford had revised the estimated delivery date and said that it was actually set to be delivered 2.5 weeks early but they pushed that back 3 different times before it was finally delivered. Still arrived 1 week early, still happy, still consider myself extremely lucky.

Emailed the execs this morning. Nicely...this time.

I had a thought: why can't I hire a hauler and have them pick my truck up for me? If they say the problem is a shortage of truckers, I'll solve the problem for them. It's only gotta go 37 miles. 37 MILES, Y'ALL!

Shit, that distance, I'm surprised they don't just drive the thing over there.

Why does this have to be so difficult?

My truck has been sitting at the final railyard since 7/25.

This is 8.9 miles from the dealer.

Not sure how this is on Ford. They pay to have vehicles shipped. It is on the shipping company at this point.

I mean if I order something on-line and the delivery is lost or delayed, I am on the phone with UPS/FedEx, whoever. Not who I purchased from.

If I want to hire someone to go pick it up, I would have to arrange that with carrier, not Ford.
