Hey all, I just got an OBD2 scanner to play with.

What would you suggest doing to the drivetrain to "create" a check engine light that I could easily clear, and would be non-destructive? I was thinking about unplugging an O2 sensor, but open to reasonable suggestions. Thanks

Unplug the active air dam many of us have removed. It probably already has code anyway from being stuck if you still have it. Those are Ford specific codes so good test of your scanner. I see it in FDRS/Forscan/OBDLink.

Not sure if the XLT has the active air dam....

Maybe I could unplug the backup "bonk" speaker.

Chances are if you just go scan the truck you'll find something. Usually random communication errors and other things that come and go all the time and are fine.

You can unplug the ecu and try to start it. Lotsa codes to explore. Ask me how I know…

Or unplug the MAF sensor and you'll probably have a light before you even start the truck.
