I don't fault them for streamlining their options, both technologically and aesthetically, as I am sure there is a ton of analytics to back up the choices.

They blended the two King Ranch models together, so you get one model that should appeal to all KR buyers. Further down the line, the XLT and the Lariat both drop the two-tone option, so those who like that look are going to be left with just the King Ranch.

The Platinum come standard with the Black Appearance Package and only one interior choice. To delete the black, you have to step up to the Platinum Plus (formally Limited). The Limited was an outlier, anyway, so why not bundle it in with the Platinum. I know a lot of folks like the blacked out look, but it is not for me. Platinum Plus wouldn't be for me either.

I am sure there is another thread that spells out all the adds and subtracts, so I won't regurgitate it all here. The 2024 is not winning me over...I guess that's the main point.

EV’s will get better with time but yeah, don’t force it down my throat while it’s a subpar product. I’ll gladly buy one when I’m ready and feel the manufacturers are too/ it doesn’t inconvenience me to own it. Hybrids will keep coming online for now, GM has the 6.2L V8 hybrid on the way, we should learn more soon.

Ford announced they were streamlining the options/standard equipment on all 2024's. This is, as we all know by now, due to the lack of parts available to all manufactures. In 2021, I ordered my Platinum in such a way (accidentally, I assure you) that it was built and in my driveway in around 90 days, so I somehow missed the initial cut backs.

As there is a refresh coming, I went in today and combed through the build tool to see what was what. I did not like what I saw. It is my opinion that they have cut back too much. What I like about my current truck is just not available anymore, nor are the alternatives I would consider, so I will just keep rolling in my current model. I am hopeful that by 2025, Ford will be able to open up the pipeline a little bit more and offer more options at every level.
I fully agree with you - just too many cut backs and prices are going up, not down with the cut backs. I'm glad my 2021 KR PB has all the nice-to-have options on it and because of that, instead of trading every 3rd or 4th year, I'll hang onto my 2021 for much longer. Now with the strikes going on, prices will be even higher (I'm not saying I disagree with the strike but they will pass expenses to us common folks). This could be my last Ford - depends on pricing and more deleted options.

Who knows why the rumored expansion on Hybrid didn't get any reveal?

I personally think there's a storm brewing in the automotive industry and they all pretty much know it, but just aren't sure what the best approach is to address it. It takes years to bring a product to the market. Far longer than most can imagine. The 2024 F150 refresh that we have only recently gotten our first official glance of was being mocked up and begging testing probably BEFORE we purchased our first Gen14 F150 in 2021?

I do think there's a LOT of pressure for Hybrid drivetrains, good or bad, to meet the insane CAFE escalation that is currently being imposed. The wildly overestimated EV demand isn't going to even put a dent in it.

An old man's speculation. Clouded by his enamoration with the Powerboost.
True, I think if the shareholders will get their heads out of the carmakers business and let them make decisions based off of what the buyers wanting things would smooth out a little bit, but I don't see that happening. As a pretty big percentage I feel like Ford would not have jumped in the EV game so big had it not been for its shareholders and they're placed in the market forcing them to, much like Toyota has openly stated they don't want full EVs and don't think they are the answer, but they are getting pressured the same. And us consumers pay the price because they have to absorb the money they're losing off of the EVs somewhere, and it's making our trucks prices go up, along with parts and everything else.
