Compass not changing directions

I seen a few post elsewhere but they were for 21s. Has anyone with a 22 had issues with the compass on the instrument screen staying on “N”. I read others across the web saying there was a software update for the 21s or maybe a bad APIM module but no one confirmed a fix. My 22 302a XLT is doing this and I have an appointment Monday at the dealership. My old 2007 you could calibrate the compass but this new 22 doesn’t have that option.

Just for anyone that may have this issue. The dealership updated the APIM but that didn’t fix it. Taking it back tomorrow. I also updated the thread name as today it was stuck on SW.

ya know.. seems like I was sitting in my driveway the other day and I was thinking.. Im not pointing north but I swear it said N.

but my maps track just fine. tomorrow I am going to pay more attention.

Yes I usually didn’t pay attention until I had the CarPlay connected with Google maps and noticed it. Drove in a big square in downtown and watch the compass in the instrument panel stay stuck on north. Today after the update it stayed stuck on SW.

I hope this is not an issue anymore for those of us using Android Auto since there has been several updates the last few weeks to Fordpass, Gogglemaps, Android Auto, 3.5.3., 3.5.4.

Recommend you double check that all your apps are up to date. Maybe one of the app updates has a fix that you haven't installed yet.

If you have all the app updates try pressing the radio on/off button and fast forward button at the same for about 5 seconds to soft reset the truck. It was the only way I was able to immediately correct the compass/navigation system that broke both Android Auto and Ford Nav when I had these problems a couple of times last year.

Everything is up to date, I saw the soft reset option but haven’t tried it. Hopefully the dealer fixes today…I really don’t want to go back a third day.

For anyone watching this they did another update to the APIM but issue is still there. I tried the soft reset on the way home and it pissed it off now it’s stuck on North. They ordered another APIM not sure if that will fix it but they stated 2 to 3 days for the part which seemed a little odd. I’ll updated this again after the replacement.

Looking for some input here from the community. As stated above the dealer wants to replace the APIM. I have a coworker that bought a new 2022 the same time as me in December. I had him check his truck and sure enough its doing the exact same thing. My build date was August his was October. I really don't think replacing the APIM will fix the compass not updating. Does anyone have thoughts on next steps I should try?

Mine has been doing the same. Randomly sticking a direction and taking 10 minutes or more to change, if it ever does.

Also, my one touch up is no longer working on the driver side, works fine on passenger.

Quality control seems to be an ongoing issue.

I got the built email on 08/31/2022, Blend date was 07/19/2022

I found this but with the build dates we seem to be excluded. However I got the wiper recall that started with the 2021s so I'm not so sure those dates really matter.

Looking for any feedback. I decided to do a reset of the TCU in Forscan. Did that and everything worked perfect for like 60 seconds. Then it went to a delay but would still change. Then it would work great for like 10 seconds and then delay again. The dealer is still insisting to do the APIM. Thoughts on pushing back…with this new info…I think it’s the TCU..anyone else?
