Just my 2 cents here.

I toyed with the Diamondback but you lose half the bed unless you remove it.

The Retrax also consumes a bit of bed space but not as much.

I think I am going to go with the Bakflip MX4. provided about 99% of the usable bed space at all times.

I told my dealer to order the Bakflip MX4 and have it on the truck when I take delivery next year
I have a friend that has it on his super duty and he is very pleased with his.

August 8 build week alumni beware. Picked upped my 22 5.0 Screw on 12.22, pushing 900 miles as of yesterday. Twice now when pulling left into a parking spot, steering completely locks up and get Power steering assist error. Such a low speed no harm other than scaring the sh** out of me. Things went up a notch last night, 70-75mph on a heavily congested highway, cluster lights up like a Christmas Tree, thinking I saw something about an advance trak error-paying a bit more attention to the traffic flying around me than the error message, the truck completely shuts down and I mean to absolutely nothing. How I was able to get to the shoulder I will never know until I meet the big man upstairs. Hopefully my truck is an anomaly not another gift to all of us from this build week.

Is the only difference the material? I too was looking at the MX4

As far as I know yes , the mx4 has a aluminum skin and the f1 is fibreglass, same functionality.

the mx4 is a Matt finish and f1 is gloss.

This sucks. On the other hand it keeps you in the thread?. We don’t like to let go. Though I hope it is a quick fix and you don’t have anymore issues

thanks to you now I am researching the retrax pro. I like the option of the T rail for bike racks.
currently have a Lomax tri-fold I really like and was going to get another.. until you came along!!!

I do like how the Lomax lifts off and then the whole bed is available, but to be honest I have rarely needed a full bed.

Haha! On my 2017 I had the MX4 and it was a great bedcover. I did have a few small dents in it from random items but thankfully didn’t have any hail storms. I liked that I could easily remove it and use the entire bed but I might of done that twice in my five years owning it.

I have a family of four with some expensive mountain bikes and I hated laying them down inside my small trailer to travel with them since I couldn’t put a hitch on the back of the trailer. I like that I can easily access the truck bed and have the rack on too.

I have only had the Retrax for a month and so I don’t have anything really bad to say about it except that I wish I could open it from the passenger side too (small thing yes).

Man I thought I might actually get lucky and find an answer to this simple question. I spoke extensively with CS at Diamondback twice and still could not get an answer. I was hoping the CS rep would say, "Hold on a minute and let me run out to the shop and measure for you" but nope. I thought the guy might say "Hold on a minute and let me run out to the parking lot and measure it from one of the guys that works here with one", but nope. I thought let me go to Overland Expo East (Oct 2022) to see one and I can do all these simple things myself to get information about their product, but nope. They loaded their product up with so much "other peoples crap that they do not sell" that I could not actually use their product to see if it works for me.

At that point in time, I removed them from the list. Pity really. Rant over.

Alright, after a sick baby, dead battery in the trade in right before I was set to leave, and a power outage at the dealership I was finally able to bring her home late Friday night! She drives like a dream. I spent all of Saturday tinkering with all the settings and cruising around testing different drive modes. No rust, 800 battery, no weird or miss aligned gaps, everything looks good. Still feels surreal that it’s actually here. I guess time will tell if it was actually “worth the wait” but so far I’m very pleased.

All I have done since my truck shipped is look at tonneau covers and I can’t make up my mind. I don’t want a cheap soft roll up. It is driving me crazy. I can’t decide.
