This is just to share an article on an automotive engineering journalist's first drive of an F-150 using BlueCruise.

I don't think it's violating any copyright issues to post this, but if so, I would ask a moderator to remove it. It's from the latest issue of SAE's automotive engineering magazine.

I would never have considered owning a pick-up truck for my work, but the latest F-150 has an impressive array of options that has me seriously considering ordering a 2022 Limited. Top among these options is BlueCruise, and I've been seeking out as much information as I can regarding its performance in the real-world. Many of you might be as well, so I'm sharing the article here.

Hopefully they make that happen, right now my biggest gripe with the rollout.

I've been patiently waiting to try blue cruise before criticizing it, even after the Sandy Munro video where it couldn't handle a rather simple curve hands free... but if you can't wear freaking sunglasses then I wasted a ton of cash trading my 2018 for a 2021. I can't stand bright light and wear sunglass right up until dusk.. I would have a house with no windows in it if my wife would allow me to. Even having to give up polarized sunglasses might be enough to make me walk away from my truck, and I've been a Ford guy since I was 12 years old.

I'd be really surprised / disappointed if the system didn't work with sunglasses - and would think this could cause issues e.g. with drivers wearing prescription glasses with light sensitive lens etc. However, I've learned to be cautious of what journalists write ... from Ford's CoPilot360 Press Release back in 2020:

Available Active Drive Assist is complemented by an advanced driver-facing camera, which tracks head position and driver eye gaze, even while wearing most sunglasses

Hope they deliver on this!

This guy is using it just fine with sun glasses. The alerts are because he has this phone in front of his face as shown in his earlier video.

sun glasses including polarized glasses work fine with supercruise that also uses IR and Camera for eye tracking, I am assuming Bluecruise will work fine as well.

I was going to be a day 1 buyer of this add on but with the videos that have been released I certainly am going to wait for people not paid by Ford (and without a Ford employee in the car with them) to review it before I switch from my ankle weight. My ankle weight works on all roads and doesn't beep at me.
