Hello fellow enthusiasts,
I had a quick question. I was looking to buy a truck out of state and driving it home (roughly 300 mile drive). What I wanted to know was if there were any tips/warnings from others who have done this. I don't plan to give it the beans, or use all the drive modes (i'll be sticking to Eco). I also plan to make sure the dealer fills up the oil and gas before we leave. Again any tips, suggestions, or pointers are appreciated.

This will be my 5th vehicle bought out of state. Really don't do too much but typically I like to vary the speed and driving type for the first 50 miles or so and I don't use the cruise for the first 500 miles after that other than not towing its normal driving for me. The manual only mentions towing from what I have seen. I do tend to do my first oil change at 1500-2000 miles as well

I don’t plan to tow for awhile. This thing is aimed to be a luxury/vacation road trip vehicle.

Ordered from Chapman in PA and live in JAX, FL. When the time comes to pick it up (December maybe), it'll be just shy of 1000 miles total. We plan to stop and visit family in MD and VA each for a day or so. Add in possible traffic and between all these drive types, it should vary the engine RPMs pretty good. It'll be a combo of hwy and city driving. I'm just going to drive it like if it was one of my existing vehicles with 100k+ miles by just putting it in D and pressing the pedal. We usually stop every 2hr or so for restroom breaks, gas, or whatever, so the off/on ramps should add some variations too. But being that our current vehicles only range 300 or so miles per tank, this truck should go about 2x the distance before needing to be refueled.

That's a solid break-in trip home. My forecasted commute home is essentially all highway with maybe 1, or at max 2, stops for restroom/refuel. I also plan to vary the speeds, but I dont plan on flooring it until after the first 500-1k miles.

I think varying RPMs and using all the gears in the tranny is really the important part for break in. So maybe stop every couple hours and use the +/- to leverage different gears in addition to adjusting speed/rpm. You'll be fine I'm sure.

I just did the journey from Chapman Horsham to Austin TX. Wanted to stop in Knoxville but there was a college ball game and every hotel was sold out, had to sleep in the truck (didn't get the max recline seats..). Used bluecruise most of the way and did a few full throttle pulls. Already have 1700 miles on it!
