Thanks for the update!! What did your tongue weight turn out to be? In my opinion, payload is the hardest thing to figure out, so I always strive for more, or to carry less in the back of the truck, so that I stay within the numbers.

Always seem silly to me driving a truck with an empty bed while pulling the trailer, and I know it would be fine loading the bed up, but maybe push a little closer to the limit than I would like. I'd rather be well within.

As for that trailer sway video, I've see many like that. I've never encountered that much sway, but at the times I have, I have no problem correcting the situation, which pretty much means...slow down. I watch those videos though and I don't understand how they get out of control. Its not like it starts off that way. A little wiggle here or then, then a little more, then a lot more, then disaster. Seems to me plenty of time to react to the situation properly, but I guess these people don't know how to do that?
I know first hand how fast things get ugly. I was towing a 6 place snow mobile trailer with 6 sleds strapped down. Going through Nebraska i told my buddies I didn't like the feel. I suggested we pull over and move the tandom axles back a foot.
The steering was way to light.
So while we were looking for a place to stop it started snowing. As we continued the snow was deep enough to have the DOT out plowing. Maybe an inch but the plow left a little ridge that the left trailer axle caught. IMMEDIATELY the trailer pulled just a inch to the left and pulled my trucks front end to the right. I was so light on my front tires that all steering control was lost.
The trailer swapped ends with the truck while still connected and the front of the truck went into the ditch and buried its self into a stop. But the trailer kept going. It cartwheel straight up and over the truck and slammed upside down into the ground .
Trailer still attached. Destroying the trailer and all six sleds.

After that I learned that if I feel so much as tail heavy load im stopping. Move axles or reload. Put tongue weight on!

I should have known this from the beginning. Im a pilot. Having a tail heavy airplane will kill you in an instant. You dont have elevator control.
Best to have too much weight in the front of the balance pivot point then behind .
