Hi all,

Considering the increasing frequency of BLIS taillight theft from newer XLT’s and up I was considering buying a DIY VIN etching product for the headlights and taillights. The problem is that as an etch 1): it would be hard to see at night, and 2): easily missed by the thief in his rush, because of that I was thinking that using a permanent marker to circle the etch to draw attention to it might not be a bad idea. However, there is the possibility that black marker on the headlights/taillights would affect their performance (in terms of BLIS). Can anyone advise further?

Thanks

You'd be better off with security screws than VIN etching. Enough bad actors in the world who don't care about that sort of thing.

I don't know what size the tail light screws are, but they have a few options here.

Security Screws

McMaster Carr has some, too.

Are they really stealing BLIS tail lights now?!

The article I read referenced San Antonio and another city in Texas so if it's happening there it's going to spread, I'm sure. And I'd rather be safe than sorry
