Best Guess on Bed Light Install

My 22 Lariat didn't come with the bed utility package. That means I didn't get the step, and the power up tailgate. I got bed lighting, but it's not switchable. It has lights. They come on automatically when you open the tailgate. There are times though when I'd like a switch to keep them on. Seems easy enough to do, but I was wondering if I'll have to do Forscan to make them work, or, by chance they may just work without that. Anyone have any experience here?

You should be able to add a switch parallel to the one on the tailgate. A member on here maybe able to post a wiring diagram and possibly the location of the switch.My 21 has a switch on the left side of the box.

Ford took out a simple switch for box lighting but installed lights and a switch (somewhere) to turn them off/on. Doesn't make sense. Is this a cost cutting idea?

This is a pretty great video. Complete with part numbers. He has to do Forscan, but he had no lights whatsoever before the install.
