Do you think the box is strong enough for extended use with a hitch rattling around in it?
I'm sure it would be fine, but rags, as mentioned previously, would be a great idea too. If for nothing else, to prevent any possible rattles when passing over railroad tracks and such.

I thought that was what forums are for??

Does anyone suspect that Ford might know something about that space that we don't? It's non-sensical to include additional parts where none are necessary. Typically the other way around.

Thanks for the video. The only thing that I found this box good for was holding tie down straps, but it's just as easy to keep them under the back seat.

What is the point of blocking off that space?
I've noticed it accumulates a lot of dust from the open area underneath. I wonder if they didn't intend to use it but abandoned it after the bed was already designed to have it. I'm gonna see if jumper cables fit stock; if not, then I'll pull it out to make it deeper.
