Bed light switch wiring ?

ok Iam sure I have put this in the wrong spot , still trying to learn the site , question is I added a bed light kit , I just taped in to the rear cargo , the bed lights come on when I open my doors or push the lock unlock button or with cargo light button in the cab , I will be adding power from the battery to the bed of the truck for a 12 volt plug to charge power tool batteries with an in line fuse , I’d like to add the factory bed lights power button as shown , I will also add 2 in line diode on the power wires to keep from back feeding power , question is on the factory power switch i only see 2 wires , so would you wire power in to the switch than out to the lights ? And use the switch as an interpreter ? Thanks in advance.

What did you figure out? I installed a cheap set of LED strip lights from NiLight from Amazon and tied them into my factory rubber switch that turn on my factory cargo bed lights. Its acting erratic. When the truck is OFF they seem to work like i want. When the truck is running it flashes but doesn't stay on.

My lights work fine as of now , they are tied in to the cargo bed / third brake light , they light up with an open door , or with the cargo light on , I did get my factory switch , but it’s not going to work for what I want , I have a 2025 stx and it don’t have the factory wiring , and I was lazy and didn’t try and find the right harness, Iam going to add an on off water proof push button with two diodes to keep from back feeding power
