It's good to hear on the installs y'all check everything!

I ordered it directly from RT. They initially weren't going to give me a refund but thankfully ended up honoring a full refund after I sent a ton of photos. Have a look at the ones I posted further on down, here is a link directly to the post. Notice the missing screws and cracked latching mechanism corners from using screws that were too large? Do you ever see that on the shipments you get? If not it might be worth sending those along too, I don't have any contacts or relationship with RT.
We've never had anything missing, because again we get them on a freight truck. So it's not like UPS/Fedex are handling them. So they don't show up to us damaged.

We sell more covers locally then we do online and this is one reason, things can get damaged in transit, especially larger items.

Also the newer covers we're finding are not as padded as they used to be. A recent MX4 we got was missing a lot of foam padding that the older ones used to have.

Bought BAK Revolver X4S in Oct 2023. All in all had good success until we were driving down the highway at 70 MPH and experienced 40-60 mph crosswinds when the tailgate area lifted up about a foot and broke all the cheap plastic, bent side rails, and the ends extrusion in the rollup section.
Waiting to see how they will "take care" of this after sending examination, pics, video (yes, it was latched down :)).
BAK sent me a brand new unit. I need ti drill holes in the old one and send them pics to validate destruction.

Curious if anyone has any recommendations for a similar cover with the t-rails? I have a x4s currently and have been really happy with it, but seeing the horror stories on this new model pretty much everywhere has me not wanting to go down this road. I am looking for something I can attach a rack to for hauling kayaks. I don't want a soft cover and would really prefer to avoid a folding cover, the rolling hard cover style has proven to work really well for me.

I've been holding off on a tonneau and kept coming back to the BAK revolver design but have been hesitant given some of bad reviews around the end caps breaking, freezing, leaking etc. It sounds bad and I'm chuckling that I even gave it a shot but there are also a tremendous amount of positive reviews. Misery loves company I guess, not sure. After having one in my hands I feel like they are brittle, shoddy, and fit for a $450 price-point max. I recorded a quick summary video, worth a gander if you are considering a revolver.

Actually the weatherstrip is not to be placed as you have shown on your install. It is to be the opposite as you have shown. See attached video at 30 second mark. I too have had issues with small plastic cpas (chintzy). Actually I was driving at ~70mph with crosswinds gusts of ~50 mph and wind gusts pulled the cover up and out of the track. Contacted company and provided pics and they replaced with a new one ASAP. That said, if I have issues again I will be looking for all alternative solution for my 23 F150.

I've got the Ford branded X2 and had it for 5 years now on two different trucks. I've replaced seals, clips, and now the felt inside came off due to heat. Been looking at the X4 and X4ts for a potential replacement, but this has me worried. What other covers are you finding similar to the X2/X4 that are higher quality?

Well, all of a sudden I am concerned that the X4S that I moved from my 19 RCSB to my 24 RCSB, and have not had any problem with whatsoever, is not any good.
I just cleaned it up, added a new bulkhead seal, and 303’d it and it looks and performs perfectly. Is every other X4S ever made a piece of crap?
I’ll check back in if I ever have any problems with it, but before finding this thread, I would have recommended this tonneau cover to friends.

If you haven't had any issues that's fantastic. For me it was the inherent cost cutting baked into the design, missing & broken OOTB parts, sloppy machining along with the issue of inoperability in freezing weather. Based on your photo and timeframe coming off your 19' it sounds like you got a good one before the quality tanked post acquisition of BAK by Real Truck.

I can tell this is pre-aquisition because your logo is still BAK and in place. Mine was "BAK by Real Truck" and had as much adhesion/thickness as the throwaway decal sizing strip you'd see on a pair of jeans. It literally blew off within 10 minutes as if the adhesive was good at one point but dried up to useless while packaged, more cost cutting I guess. The new ones are an insult, glad you have a good one!

I actually can’t remember exactly how long I’ve had mine. I remember thinking this model was rather new, and thought it was an improvement over the original revolver.
I replaced an MX4, which I really like, except for the fact that it had absorbed into the foam between the aluminum skins that it became a chore to fold it up unless you were in the bed. When you folded it up and leaned it against the cab, water would drip from the corners.

That top was purchased for my 16, so was getting old. I assume it took on the water as snow/ice melted slowly, as I park outside.

I know you are correct that one can’t roll it up when icy, which I could see that being a big problem for some.

How long ago did Real Truck take over? I had myself believing BAK was for real, but it sounds like that is no longer the case.

Once again, I’ll try to report if it starts going downhill.

I watched that video, and I see what you mean.
The instructions that came with mine, and the instructions that are on the Real Truck website mention to put it at the leading edge of the bulkhead, closest to the cab.
So that’s what I did. I can’t see it, and I haven’t noticed heavy leakage.
I read the ones at the website when I installed mine, for the second time, as I couldn’t remember where I had it on the one I traded in.
I really like mine, but if I had any of the problems mentioned in this thread , I’m sure I would fell differently.

My local shop stocks a whole drawer of replacement corner covers for all the different BAK products.

I'm on my 2nd MX4 since May. The first one had a torn gasket out of the box. The second one has the new style rails and clamps which are impossible to install even when following their instructions. I finally paid the local shop to do it. And it leaks. And I need new corner caps.
