My 21 Powerboost has been in the shop almost 30 days needing a new axle and bolt. Are these really that hard to come by now? Has me seriously rethinking keeping this truck long term if they (a) haven't truly identified a long term solution, and (b) can't keep the repair parts in stock.

I took delivery of this truck in April of 21. I don't have a picture of the door sticker, but likely it's a February or March build. Is this out of the date range that is usually affected?

Input is much appreciated I am almost meet California's requirements for lemon law buyback.

Ford claims that they have found a fix for the axle bolts breaking. According to CSP 22B34, the dealer is supposed to replace both axles if the latest part numbers are not already installed. The part numbers that do not require replacement are ML3Z-4234-E/H (RHS) and ML3Z-4234-F/J (LHS).

This CSP applies to:
2021 MY F150s built in Dearborn May 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021
2022 MY F150s built in Dearborn September 16, 2021 through September 16, 2021
2021 MY F150s built in Kansas City June 15, 2021 through September 30, 2021.

Hmmm... So my vehicle falls outside of that. Top it off, it sounds like the dealership is only replacing one side, so I could have the problem again on the other side. ?

My dealer told me the CSP is for an inspection only to see if parts need to be ordered.

No surprise, but the dealership experience for those with broken axle bolts is far from consistent dealership to dealership.

It ranges from clueless with long waits to quick turnaround with both sides replaced with only one side busted.

I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but if it does happen, I'm not leaving it with a dealership that doesn't seem to have their act together.

The initial release of CSP 22B34 dated 2/14/2023 was to inspect vehicles and only replace failed parts on customer owned vehicles if parts were available.

F-150 vehicles identified in OASIS that do not have a loose or separated wheel end hub bolt will be eligible for repair at a future date, after it is determined that the service part inventory can accommodate additional orders.
The current version of CSP 22B34-S1 dated 7/7/2023 says:

Dealers are to review the vehicles warranty history for all claims and check if the warranty claims contain the latest level parts (ML3Z-4234-E/H (RHS) and/or ML3Z-4234-F/J (LHS)). If one or both sides do not contain the latest part number, dealers are to replace the appropriate axle(s) that does not contain the latest level parts. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner.

Ok, great. That sums it up, thanks for the clarity!

Got a call from the dealership. They are still waiting on parts. They will only replace one side. Called Ford and spoke with Linda. They will not replace the other side if it isn't broken. If you don't fall within the date range of the CSP, you might be holding the bill in the future when your other axle bolt breaks. This is not the way to treat customers.

On top of that, another concern (intermittently the engine squeaks/chirps when starting or stopping) that I demonstrated with a video, they won't address because the tech can't duplicate it.

My frustration level is pretty high right now.

Ford wants to delay repairs so that many vehicles fall outside the lemon law window in terms of time of ownership and or mileage. This is not at all unusual for Ford in responding to safety defects with the vehicles they sell.

Your options are to avoid driving the truck or to have an independent garage do the work or wait until Ford may decide to provide the parts and pay for the needed repairs.

Ford is bleeding money with their EV program and are going to do everything they can to defer any major warranty/recall campaigns.
