I'm sure by now several have found out these will shift into park automatically if you do one of these two things that I have found so far.

1. You open the door while the engine is running, it shifts to park. First time I did this, I shut the door and tried to move forward and noticed it would not go. I then noticed it was in park and thought, when did I put it in park?? Lol

2. If you turn the engine off while in drive, it will shift to park.

Pretty cool I think!

That is really smart but I feel like it may get annoying when I need to open the door for a drive through or getting into a condo garage. Cool and safe feature nonetheless!

Yeah, I hear ya but I can tell you, you get use to it real quick and becomes a mute issue.

Yes, the turn the truck off/puts in park is pretty cool. Because my wife's Acura has a push button transmission and not a physical shifter, I forget from time to time to hit the park button and I just turn the car off.

The 'going to park' when the door opens, that has been annoying me since 2018...still hate it.

I don’t like this either. Even though I have mirrors and a backup camera there are certain times when backing up that I open the door to stick my head out to look behind me. Not happening anymore I guess.

I wonder if it won't do that if you are moving? May have to play with it.

There really should be a “work around” for this, even if it only for one ignition cycle.
I have the door open frequently while moving in on direction or the other.

But then again, none of the cars that I drive have a park position.

Yes, thank you, someone who feels the pain. I will pull my car in and out of the garage to clean (the car or the garage) and lazily don't like shutting the door all the way.

I have probably been opening the door in various situations for 30 years. Hard to brake the habit...

There are a number of times when dealing with a trailer that I want to open the door and just inch either forward or backward.... So this "feature" may be annoying.

Can you put it into drive with the door open?

Not sure about the F150, but my last BMW had this. If I was going down the drive way and opened the door to pick up the news paper (don't get that anymore) and was still creeping it would slam the car into park.

I haven't messed with it too much, but I tried it a couple times. When my seatbelt was buckled it didn't move to park, but when I was unbuckled it did.

Come to think of it, my seatbelt was unbuckled when the BMW did this.

I finally got around to verifying some of this.

Seatbelt on, no problem, stays in drive or reverse.

Seat belt off, get ready to be shocked! ?

I was only doing 1 or 2 mph but when you open the door the truck goes to park and you stop very suddenly. I'm sure there is a speed that this won't happen but I'm not going to find it, probably in the manual some where but beware.
