apples oranges and MPG

picked up my truck last week with 57 miles on it. Drove 32 miles home at 65 MPH and got 21.9 mpg. Extremely impressed by that.

so i am still getting terrible mpg compared to the 2013 150 and the 16 expedition both with 3.5 eco but they had 6 spd.
feels like truck is being pushed back at speeds above 65.
was thinking of disconnecting grill shutters to see of it makes a difference

but arent the shutters supposed to help mpg not hurt it?
