Yesterday I could not get my car play to come on no matter what I did. After driving home shut the truck off for awhile and it came back on finally. Has anyone else had this and can you tell me what the fix was. I am going on vacation soon and would hate not to be able to use my navigation for a four plus hour drive.

On the rare occasion I have an issue, I reset the sync system by holding the audio power button and the next track button for a few seconds until the screen turns off. When it comes back on iPhone should automatically connect. If not then go to iPhone CarPlay setting and turn it off and on. If then not last resort is to connect the usb cable to the phone - that should always work.

I have not had this issue. Had an issue where only the passenger side of the trucks speakers were working. Turned the truck off and on again. Fixed it. Very weird but their are certainly some bugs with Apple car play and the audio system in the truck.

Its hit or miss for me when I try to use Car play and the app I'm using for music. (Hoopla)

Sometimes it will work using the touch screen and other times only with the controls on the phone itself.

Seems like its successful more often by me opening the app before I get to the truck for some reason and then starting the vehicle.

I have had this happen twice. Use the power plus next track button to reset the sync 4 and it comes back. I have also had some inconsistencies with wireless connections during phone calls. I removed my truck from wifi memory and went into the bluetooth settings on my phone then disabled wireless sync. I only use the USB-c connection now. Better quality sound and calls.

Had this issue on my 2021 and went to dealer to check + see what was going on. They performed a software/module update I believe but a day after picking it up, the problem continued. I took it back to them, but they couldn't replicate the issue so I contacted Ford Canada (since I'm up in Canada here). They said they'd look into it and overnight, a OTA update was installed; didn't see it updated until I was leaving for work. She then called me back and said to perform the POWER + NEXT TRACK ">>" buttons together for 10 seconds and release. After that day, didn't have an issue at all.

So that will reset the just the car play or sync 4? (Or both?)

Will I need to do anything with the phone after that? (ie; Will it not recognize the blue tooth?")

Had the issue yesterday of Apple Car Play not syncing to my phone. I had started the truck in generator mode and run it for about 15 minutes before driving away. I’m thinking this was the issue

It should, but always double check to see if you have a new software update. Give it a try?

Nope, it doesn’t reset any settings, just reboots the APIM & screen really.

There's quite a bit of comment around about this.... do a search and you'll see lots of issues.

Mine drops out and comes back in when it decides it feels like it... I've had the blue screen where the whole system freezes, multiple overlays you name it.

resetting of the screen works, shutting down the truck and locking it (let it go to 'sleep' then unlocking it to 'wake up') and a restart of your phone (clears cache) works....

Just a pain having to do them....

Usually I'll see mine not connect when I start the truck for the first time that day. The rest of the restarts are fine - CarPlay connects no problem.

The dealer said it's a power saving feature of the Sync 4 to turn off its WiFi if the truck sits for a while (don't recall them providing a time estimate). A local WiFi connection between your phone and the truck is how wireless CarPlay works.

As others suggested a reboot of my phone usually gets the wireless CarPlay working again. Also, I've been trying to put my phone into airplane mode (turns off the cell radio and WiFi) then taking it out and trying to reconnect with Sync 4. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If not, then I need to reboot my phone.

I do have an older iPhone. Hoping when I upgrade my phone I won't be seeing this problem as much.
