This is my experience with commodity restrictions. This post does not indicate that all orders may be experiencing the same commodity restrictions.

My original order was submitted and accepted by Ford on 11/4/2022.
  • F150 4x4 Lariat Sport Supercrew 157”
  • 501A
  • 3.5 EB
  • 6” Extended Running Boards
  • Blue Cruise
  • Max Trailer Tow
  • Telescoping Tow Mirrors
  • Onboard Scales
  • Continuously Controlled Dampening
  • Bed Utility
  • 360 Cameras
60 days later my order is still not scheduled. Not a long wait compared to some of you, but I started to look at the price difference with a King Ranch. My other thought was that maybe a higher trim would get scheduled quicker. I have no basis for that, just a thought.

The lariat order was cancelled, and the dealer submitted a King Ranch order with the following:

  • F150 4x4 King Ranch Supercrew 157”
  • Antimatter Blue Two-Tone
  • 601A
  • 3.5 EB
  • Blue Cruise
  • Max Trailer Tow
  • Telescoping Tow Mirrors
  • Onboard Scales
  • Continuously Controlled Dampening
  • Bed Utility
  • 360 Cameras
Ford would not accept the order until the following was removed:
  • Massaging Seats
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Advanced Security Pack
  • CCD
  • Onboard Scales
  • Blue Cruise
I had those options removed and FX4 added. This order was submitted and accepted by ford on 1/6/2023 and today, 1/12/2023, I received a build week of 2/13/2023. Only time will tell if that holds. Because of the options removed, the King Ranch order ended up being cheaper than the Lariat order as originally spec'ed so I am happy with the way things turned out. All the options I can't get on this truck I can live without.

Very possible, but I have two orders, same truck - see signature - with two dealers. I got the 45 days email a few times for both trucks. One was scheduled for the week of Jan 23rd, the other one it's still waiting to be scheduled.

Both are the top dealers in my area.

It's going to be a really nice truck, but it stings a bit regardless.

Having a 2022 with all the options that you were constrained from I can at least give my opinion....

Since you were originally aiming at 501, losing the multicontour seats (with the features that those seats come with) shouldn't bother you much.

The Scales are a cool thing to talk about and show your friends, but they aren't a scientific tool in respect to Payload.
The CCD comes from the factory with very conservative settings. The damping is definitely on the softside, so unless Ford makes available an update with more driver control over the damping choice, it's not difficult to improve the handling with aftermarket kit, no differently than you can VS the oem analog suspension.

I've now had 2 Powerboost. One without Bluecruise and one with. As long as I have Adaptive Cruise with Lane Centering, it's very much what Bluecruise is on roads that aren't Bluecruise approved. In other words, it's not the actual hands free option that I enjoy so much, but rather everything that fundamentally makes hands-free even possible.

Hope you get your truck in a timely manner and it's as enjoyable for you as mine has been for me. Remarkable trucks!

I think I saw a post last month about someone's Lariat getting BlueCruise or maybe even Copilot assist 2.0 delete. This was what made me decide to order a Platinum instead.
Ordered 12/14/22
Just got an email today about 2/13 build week, which is a lot sooner than I thought.

My experience so far matches your observations that more options are being deleted, and higher trims are scheduled quicker.

I had my Platinum scheduled today for the week of 2/13, as well. Ordered on 1/3 so I was surprised. Looks like all options are intact save for the heated wheel, security pack, active motion seats and park delete.

Interesting.. I have a 302A XLT on order from Grainger. Order placed 12/1 so not a long time by any strech but also not sure why ford didnt get scheduled as I didnt put 'fancy' stuff in there with hopes to get it built. I am 302A with 2.7, work surface, bed utility, sport appearance, 4x2 with locking diff with Area 51 color. @Aaron34 - When you got scheduled I assume you saw a ford email?

Hmm… yeah you don’t seem to have any complicated commodities. Yes, I got an email from Ford directly yesterday morning. Just like the order confirmation email, only it said “Your vehicle is scheduled for production”, gave the VIN and said week of 2/13 in the body of the email.

I don't believe the higher trims are scheduled any faster, on average, that the lower trims. XLT's seem to have gotten built pretty quickly historically. I had a 21 XLT Powerboost that I bought off the lot, and currently have a 22 King Ranch Powerboost 601A that I ordered. It took exactly 14 months from the day I ordered until the day I was able to pick it up. It was not on a long term chip hold. It literally got built a year after ordering it, took a month to get shipped and a couple weeks to arrive at the dealership. The only option mine got deleted was the Multi-Contour Seats. I still have the Heated Wheel and Advanced Security Pack. I didn't order with CCD, Bluecruise, or Scales. I did get FX4. One thing that I don't think a lot of people keep in mind but I find very valid is that higher end trims tend to hold value better, in a way. Don't get me wrong, I think Lariats can be great trucks at good value, but a Lariat with options bringing the price up to a King Ranch will not hold the value the King Ranch / Platinum does. The end user enjoyment will be the same, but you simply won't get the value out of the options when it comes time to trade-in or sell. As a rough example, a $75k MSRP Lariat is not going to hold the value that a $75k MSRP King Ranch / Platinum will, mileage and condition being equal. Bottom line, going with the King Ranch, if that's your style, is a better deal.

I completely agree on the trim level resale value.

I also keep my trucks till the wheels fall off. My current rig is a 2001 Ranger I bought brand new. If I was worried about resale value I would never buy brand new. always go a couple years old with low miles. It's the only way I can justify spending crazy amounts of money on a new car. JMHO

I went with the Lariat, with BAP, because I hate the interior of the KR and the lariat without BAP.

also I believe Ford schedule the builds based off a trim group at a time. Meaning XL XLT, maybe Lariat, all on the same line get scheduled. then they enter in the programing for the KR, Platinum ect. Also I think SCREW, CREW, Regular cab. also maybe bed length. Basically I think they group like trucks at the same time.

Lariat BAP's are sick! I'm an old soul in the minority that still likes chrome, so that's what I went with. I love that even though we all drive F150's, there's enough level of difference between models and packages to make them seem so different.

GM/Chevy produced 100,000 more pickups in 2022 than Ford and the reason was that they were smart enough to delete options (like a heated steering wheel and GPS) and sell the trucks "as is" to customers. Ford has evidently realized that this was a smart strategy with the current situation.

If you combine them, doesn't GMC and Chevy always outsell Ford? The only reason Ford is "#1" is the GMs are different enough trucks they aren't counted as one?

So another words you got a Lariat now
Not even....

but living in Michigan with the early stages of arthritis in my hands the heated wheel gets turned on on October and I don't touch the button again until April. Of all the things to delete I am surprised the heated wheel has gone away. It has been the standard on higher end vehicles for 10 years. It doesn't seem like the tech to include it is that big of a deal. If it wasn't on my 2022 I would have kept the 2020.

This is why I just purchased a 22 Tremor. Freaking 23s were missing everything including side emblems. Not spending 70k+ and not getting what I want.
