Primarily due to the crummy airflow on the drivers side vent, I’m looking at doing some tint to help with the heat that enters the cab.

Seems like the high end carbon/ir tints are the way to go. Im likely to get some darkness on the front sides, but the rear sides I’ll do clear tint simply for the heat rejection. I might do the rear glass, but I won’t do the windshield.

So here’s the rub, nothing is perfect, but of course I’m looking for my best options. With these tints have any of you had issues with:
1. Being able to see the tint with polarized glasses.
2. Seen haze in the tint. I understand this is could be a particular problem when the sun is low.
3. Reflections on the tint looking from the inside out
4. Any issues with tinting the rear glass due to the heat strips?
5. Does the tint mute the colors as you look out.
6. Any other problems, advice, things to stay away from?

Right now I’m looking at Llumar and Expel, but I could eas be talked into others.

If you dont mind, list the brand/model of the tint you’ve had issues with.

TIA

I have Expel on all my windows and its fantastic. Everything is crystal clear with very minimal rainbow effect with polarized sunglasses.

I have llumar and it seems fine to me, I also have a clear tint on the windshield.
My shop did the rear windows lighter than the front and it matches good.
I think my fronts are actually one stage past legal but I don’t really know, or care. It doesn’t look as dark as many are down here but I’m told you can’t see me.

I have a Llumar ceramic at 35% on my fronts and have had none of the issues you listed. I’ve also had xpel on other vehicles with equal success. Haven’t tried a non ceramic in a while so I can’t speak to that, but as always the skill of the installer makes all the difference IME.

Was the rainbow effect only on the windshield with the clear tint, or also on windows with darker tint?

I know I saw a demo vehicle at a high end tint shop with the clear tint on the windshield. Looking from the outside with my polarized glasses it had major rainbows. I didn’t get to look from the inside.

3M Crystalline tint all around, rear doors, rear windows, pano sunroof and windshield 70%. Front doors 40%. This is the second truck I have had this tint installed on. No issues with polarized glasses, haze, color issues or reflections, excellent heat rejection. Never had any fading either. I discovered this tint while living in Arizona. I will never have another vehicle without it unless they ever discontinued it ? https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b00016683/
