Just contact Chip at Granger Ford in Iowa and place an order with him. I got 3% off invoice without any hassle and with all the options I wanted. I ordered mine on 11/23rd and the truck was built on 12/27th. There was a little delay in transportation from the factory to the dealership and I picked up my truck on 2/10th. I ordered XLT PowerBoost with FX4, sports appearance package, trailer tow, 360 camera, bed utility & 7.2 kw.
You may be told that wait would be 4-6 months but mine was built within a month, so go ahead order whatever you want on your truck. I drove it to NJ from the dealership and it was the best part.

Hey Nick here's my timeline just to add another data point to your pool.

MY23 Platinum (SuperCrew w/ 6.5' bed, 4x4, MaxTow ...) that I ordered with a local dealer here in North Carolina. In hindsight I wonder if / how the timeline would have been different had I ordered through Granger but ?‍♂. Also should be noted that I have received absolutely ZERO contact / info from the local dealer through this whole timeline other than the day that I was there in person placing the order.

08/08/22 Ordered
08/09/22 Order confirmed by Ford
09/26/22 Delay Note
11/08/22 Delay Note 2
11/17/22 VIN
Scheduled to be built week of 12/19/22
Build moved to 1/2/23
In Production 1/10/23
Micro Chip Hold for almost 9 weeks
Built Awaiting Shipment 3/13/23

Just to echo everyone else here. I also bought from Granger .

Order placed on 10/4, picked it up on 2/23, Got home by way of 13 states on 3/13.

My wife is thinking about getting a Jeep. We will be using Granger for that if we pull the trigger.

Also have a buddy looking to getting a Ram. I sent him to Granger as well.

There is no fuss, no muss, they are straight shooters, with nothing hidden. everything out in the open. Process couldn't be any easier. I couldn't be any happier.

@Granger Ford You guys truly rock

Hey everyone, I think I’m going to go with Granger. In the least pain the ass way possible, can anyone who’s purchased from out of state (specifically California, but I’ll take any advice from anyone) provide insight/guidance needed to drive it legally in your home state?

From what I’ve gathered on the forum, it sounds like you need to go to the DMV and pay taxes on the truck and the registration, a weighmaster certificate, and get it smogged (even though it’s brand new? lol). Am I on the right track?

Thanks everyone in advance!

Probably best to give the DMV a call. Then you'll know with certainty what you need.

I know quite a few Californians have ordered from Granger. Hopefully they post up. Or, Chip @Granger may know.

Good luck!

Every state will have their own requirements. California is a completely different animal.
I have no idea what a wighmaster cert is, or why they would require the DEQ cert on a new car.

Just take all the paperwork from Granger and head to DMV. They should tell you everything you need. This is everything I had to do to register with DMV in Oregon:
I had to pay a new Vehicle Use tax, aka Sales Tax, of $350.
Had to pay $300 for tags, plates, and a title.

That was it. I walked away with plates and tags in hand.

Also in Oregon New cars come with 5 year tags. But because the Truck was titled in Iowa I could only get a 2 year tag. Oh well, I save a bunch of dough going out of state.

Glad I did this before we follow Cali like we usually do.

Yeah, in California, everyone here gets a cut...except the buyer. There are "nonsensical" or adder fees for everything. I guess someone has to pay for all the great services we are provided and are "entitled" to in this state ?. Looking forward to paying a sales (state+local) tax in excess of 9% in addition to the high registration fees once I take ownership of a new vehicle ?. Probably, the second to worst part of the new vehicle buying process (first being the ever increasing ownership costs associated with purchasing a new truck). Just biding my time here until...

Yes, over 7% (State) and 2%+ (Local). Naive locals or I guess, those with the excess funds, keep voting in so called, "temporary" tax increases for the great (promised) services it provides them. Yet we have one of the biggest homelessness issues in the country.

I am in VA but here is the process. Granger will sell you the transport license for $45 (I believe). That is a paper plate that is taped to your window. That lets you drive it home to your state without issue, you are legal. Then when you get home you wait about a week and a transport title will come in the mail. You take the sale documentation and that temp title with you to your states DMV.

Here is where you will pay whatever your state has for a new vehicle purchase. Usually tax and title fees.

If you buy the truck outright you will be issued a CA title for your truck. If you financed any part of it, that financer gets the title information and they will issue you a title after you pay it off.

It is a little hard to see but you can see the paper licence plate on the rear window driver's side. This is what you truck will look like when you pick it up at Granger. Good luck with your purchase. If your dealers in your area are charging MSRP for trucks, you will save a small fortune.
