Hey guys long time watcher first post
Lots of guys ask about airbags but with our 1/2 tons we don’t need the traditional 5k bags. Airlift makes a 2k kit for the 15-20 trucks and I had it on my 18.
like to let you know with a minor mod they will work with our new trucks. Just finished up the install on my truck
There is another member that has them on his and said they fit also. ( the reason I thought I’d give them a go)
what I had to do. Sorry no pics but im sure if needed I could grab a few
First off take a level and mark the spring studs level with the curved u bolts. Use your cutting tool of choice to trim them, do not cut the u bolts!!
Next when putting the bottom plate on top of the springs you can make a shim to fit under the plate on 1 side.
I had some 1/8 flat bar in the shop so I measured and drilled for the u bolts but this part isn’t really needed unless you feel like it.
Anyways figured I’d throw this out there as I couldn’t find anything about it when I searched

I didn’t get a chance to take pictures but I found a couple on the internet that shows the parts Hope this helps
First picture is the spring studs that you have to trim flush and the second is the bottom bracket and I circled where the shim would go if you wanted to do that too

Thanks, now I understand the 'spring stud cut flush with top of U-bolts' you referenced.

While I agree this looks do-able and 'safe' this helps me decide I'd personally rather not go with this approach.

Thanks for your post and the added pics, much appreciated.

Been looking for a kit for my 6.5 screw, I like that the op found what he was looking for, I just ordered the kit 88355 from Stage 3, yes 5K is overkill, but bolt up, no modification is my preference when possible. Will use a T to fill both bags equally with the Schrader valve, on board compressor maybe down the road.

Question; How is the ride when unloaded? Ive never used air bags and dislike the floaty feeling of the new trucks.

I put bilstein 5100 in at the same time but with 10# of air in the bags I did notice a little difference. It took the spongyness out of dips in the road too, I like the stiffer feeling of a truck and coming from a f350 it still rides way nicer

Installed the AirLift kit today that I mentioned it my post above. Took me twice the normal time(4 hours), but I wasn’t in a rush, and worked off the ground, all hand tools. I managed to do it without removing the tires, just had the frame up as far as the jack stands went. They list a few torque numbers, but for the life of me was only to get the axle brackets done to spec, the others no way, in my world at least. The instructions and video are helpful, biggest PITA was the assembly of the bottom brackets to bags, and getting to the top bolts when in place under the truck.
I have no driving evaluation yet because I’m doing a pressure test overnight, 60 lbs, and had no bubbles with the soap test.
