There is normally a 2-3 month delay between when a TSB is first published and when it shows up on sources like Alldata. So it is completely possible that the TSB I posted has been recently updated or that a new fix or service procedure has been developed.I forwarded the TSB to my dealer and here’s what they said for what it’s worth…….
“I see that you are definitely on the right track! I reviewed this with our service manager. That TSB was from March of 2022 and has now been updated by Ford. The new TSB states that we are not to replace the evaporator or the temperature sensor, it will not prevent the problem from reoccurring. It is a design flaw and that they are working on a solution that will prevent the evaporator from freezing up during humid conditions.
I will let you know as soon as I hear of any updates.”
That being said, I'm not sure if I completely believe their statement that Ford no longer wants dealers to replace evaporator temperature sensors that have failed. It's possible that there are multiple common issues and that the evaporator temperature sensor isn't always at fault, but if they test yours and it is bad, they should replace it just like any other part that fails under warranty should be replaced.
I wonder if you would get the same answer from a different dealer.
