It just hit me that I have to buy a new portable compressor.

The one I carried in my old truck was 12v and had a lighter plug on it.

My truck doesn't have a lighter plug.

Luckily, many on Amazon have both 110v and 12v. Mostly no name brands. I'll have to check them out.

Hmm. I have a 12V portable air compressor too, but I am carrying it over to the new truck. I have a 7.2kW powerboost that doesn't have a 12V up front but it does have the single 12V socket in the entire truck in the rear passenger center stack. I can reach all 4 tires from there.

Which trim didn't come with 12V?

Oh, damn. I'll have to look back there.

I haven't been in the back seat of my truck ???

Well, glad you replied before I bought one.

There certainly is a socket back there.

Thanks!

Nice! Yeah mine is right back under the 40% seat storage. My emergency kit/toolbox is too wide to fit in the folding storage though :(

Just to boost this thread - I'm looking for a small (hopefully in size and price) air compressor to fill Airstream (80psi) tires. Am I correct in thinking the best option is to get a 120v model and run it from the inverter? And either an extension cord or an extension hose to reach the trailer...

I bought this one off amazon a few months ago and ended up returning it due to not being easily compatible with standard air hose inflators and other tools and it was also just too cheaply constructed.

This one is kind of big, but I had it left over from an old work project years ago, so I bring it when towing instead.

If you check out Keep Your Daydream on YouTube, they've mounted a compressor on their trucks under the frame rails that looks like a really cool setup, but probably not worth it unless you're full timing it.

I just bought a 1 Gal Makita MAC100Q. Hopefully I don’t regret buying for being too big to keep in the truck and too small for uses other than tire inflation

Yeah, the 135 psi isn't horrible for other uses. But, the one gallon tank really limits it.

I have these, take Milwakee in truck with extra battery (now) off road. (Last Black Friday)
Been using the Kobalt 2 gal for years for karting, haven't tried to run it off truck with 400W yet though. Maybe test it now... hmm it worked, Yeh not sure how much I can get out of 2 gal tanks before need to refill it for the truck tires. Maybe I'll take it next weekend.
Prices are going up, availability going down too....
Most people just use cheap 12 V plug in. Read off road reviews though some are slow, some overheat by second tire. lol.
All Smitty built or ARB good. $$$

Yeah I think 95% of the time this will be needed for going from 75psi to 77psi, so I'm not sure I need much capacity or power. The Kobalt looks useful, but there's a jump between under 10 pounds and 25 pounds. (And whether it lives under the back seat or in the bed and then I need a tonneau cover)

I really like the size/price point of models like this one, but wondering if it's just weak and I'll regret it.

I use my 20V Dewalt almost every week whether its my truck or equipment in the yard. Been one of the best $100 I've spent. That said, I already been invested in batteries and such so it fits well. No problem filling truck tires to 70 PSI or more. I usually don't have to go that high even on my old F250.

Check to make sure the chord will reach all 4 tires. The one I have will reach but just barely.
