Adaptive Cruise Control behavior

I apologize if this question has been answered. I searched and could find no obvious thread...

Having used the adaptive cruise control for almost a year, I really like it for interstate driving. It is a vast improvement over traditional cruise. I have my following distance set to the minimum, so my question is this: If you are behind me and the adaptive cruise slows me down, do my brake lights come on as if I have braked with a traditional cruise control? Thanks in advance for your time to answer...

I could be mistaken but I think it depends on a measurement from the accelerometer?
Same question gets asked regarding regenerative braking on Hybrid and EV.

At a certain rate of deceleration it triggers brake lights.
I can't vouch that most/all manufacturers use the same method, of course.

Try it at night and you should be able to discern?
Come to think about it there could be a PID?

Yes they do, I checked at night with my bed camera on and could see the red glow.

Yeah I didnt even know this.. I constantly wonder this. There is no requirement for it. I was watching a video on youtube and a guy had a KIA I think and they dont come on. He was talking about how unsafe it is.

I've not seen a PID, but you can see the brake light signal on the canbus. The real-time acceleration signal is very noisy, it looks like it's using the planned acceleration being less than -0.5m/s2 to actuate the brake lights.

Just a quick search in the PID library and at least there's a few of interest.

I'll load them up and see if any of them indicate/reflect when the brake lights are illuminated.

My vote is the first one to be indicating brake lights without using the pedal.

I know my center light does, but have idea about the rear ones
Surely they do. It would seem...dangerous if they did not. The guy behind you may not have adaptive cruise and zip right into you.
Around here the 3rd setting on farm roads is close enough.. hay, rocks, stuff departing trailers etc..gives you time to take action if truck does not

My engine brake on bus triggers brake lights. Just like on otr trucks

My engine brake on the gone 21 f250 would trigger the brake lights.

I could hook up trailer and do a night drive..they are bright and easily seen from mirrors
