Question and concern when using adaptive cruise control. The arrows point in each photo where my concern is, as it seems to remove forward collision protection while using cruise control and you cancel/suspend by hitting break or hitting the X on the cruise control switch. The question i have, does forward collision turn off while using cruise/adaptive cruise and hit the break and do not re-engage cruise or temporarily suspend cruise by hitting the canx/X on cruise control steering wheel switch? You can get close to a vehicle and you do not get the yellow shade area or any waring as you would when cruise control is off. I think Ford needs to review the programming in this situation to see what is actually active in this state. First photo is cruise off. Second photo cruise/adaptive cruise on. Third photo cruise is on but is suspended because i hit break or hit the X on steering control to suspend temporarily. What is some thoughts around this?

Interesting question. I never looked that closely but will pay attention this week commuting.

Nope all safety’s are still active. When cruise is “on” but not activated, the screen it shows you just changes a bit to represent that so you lose your following distance indicator

The main reason I asked, I was in stop and go interstate travel. We started rolling again and got to 50 mph, and the truck in front slammed on the breaks, I did not get any reaction from my truck as I got within a foot from rearending the vehicle. Yes, I hit break to stop because of situation. The last time I encountered a similar situation, cruise was off and I got the red dash flashing and sounding warning indicating collision was immenant. That is what made me start looking at the scenario I posted . I have no way to test function without taking a chance of a collision again. I'll pass on that.. maybe ford test center can perform test to checkout scenario.

When using adaptive cruise you can turn on or off lane control, and set following distance by pressing buttons on wheel but not sure if you can turn off following distance

Similar issue. I would prefer lane centering to remain active when adaptive cruise is cancelled but not turned off. Anyone know of anyway to do this? In the absence of this, lane departure warnings would be good in this situation as well.

@towpro I can turn off lane centering, but following distance can only be adjusted. I have not seen any way to turn off that particular feature. I'll have to check in sync settings. I would think if cruise Is on and in cancel mode, it should bring back the gray box indicator. So far my personal experience collision is turned off.

I'm not sure if @Jesse-Infotainment can look at the programming during this state to validate. I have no plans to run into a vehicle to see if it works or not. I still do not think it will auto brake

For ACC braking behaviour, from the manual:
Ford F-150 Adaptive cruise and safety concern 3839D14B-EB3B-462D-8E84-F4EBAF40C095

Point being the keyword "limited". Make sure there are no obstructions to the windscreen camera and front radar sensor. Point being it might have failed to detect the vehicle ahead slow-down for some reason.

For normal CC, from the manual:
Ford F-150 Adaptive cruise and safety concern F992A94E-7F0A-4FAE-82F1-A5EEF6C2461F

That is when the indicator is green showing it is active as in my second photo, the question is in the third photo when the indicator is white because of being on but inactive due to hitting the cancel button or hitting the brakes, the system works great when it is active and green but in the cancel state is the question. The owners manual does not give that scenario.
