ACC RADAR behind shutters

Looking to possibly move the ACC Radar up behind the shutters. Looking at an aftermarket bumper and want to keep license plate in center. I have seen a few companies offering a relocation kit for the grill area and they want you to remove three of the shutters. I don't understand why since my understanding is the shutters are all plastic and the radar passes through the plastic.

Has anyone moved their ACC Radar between shutters and intercooler? Removing three shutters changes the look of the grill and I'm trying to keep it consistent.

There isn't much in the way of room. The issue with all the relocation kits is they expose the sensor to rocks/large bugs/etc that can very easily destroy it if they hit it. Ideally you'll want some sort of cover over the sensor. You'll of course need to re-level and calibrate it after.

I relocated mine, it wasn't very difficult, but getting it tuned was a bear. Lots of fine adjustments, then highway driving with Forscan open to see if it would pass. If you have a chrome grill, plan to swap to an all plastic-one. I suspect mine is giving the ACC RADAR a couple bad reads here and there.

Reason for removing the shutters is because it sits where the shutters are rotating. You are not mounting it back enough behind the shutters, so you need to remove those three shutters for the ACC RADAR to sit there.

I removed all of my shutters personally.
I've not had any issues with rocks or bugs.

If you're looking at relocation kits, I found that the DV8/Addictive Desert Designs brackets are identical, and the DV8 is $100 cheaper. You can also make it yourself if you're handy. But do not use their instructions, instead, put place it more towards the center. If you look at a raptor, the grill spells FORD, I placed mine roughly where the R would be.
