Yes, at least on mine, center screen, settings, vehicle settings, mirrors. If I'm remembering correctly.

Sorry I was out yesterday... I was driving to Virginia in my old truck Friday, but it broke down en route because it's my OLD truck. I would have taken my NEW truck, but, well, you know.... :p

Anyway, a night at the Comfort Inn and some help from the good folks at Shelby Tire and Auto in Shelbyville, Indiana, and I made it... so here's a quick update!

Josh35 has gotten their truck, a black beauty of a Lariat with big towing mirrors and a 6.5 bed.... I keep seeing these and thinking I should have gotten that instead of the shortbed... looks better to me... but, I guess I'll thank myself every time I have to parallel park.

I'm not sure why dmac isn't on the list, they're in our build week, but now I'll add them (however belatedly), though since the truck is already on the lot, expect them to leave the list just as quickly!

Limbo continues for three of us, now held over into a stellar 11th week! Come see it while you still can! (Or don't, it's pretty boring)

Ok fellas, I got home last night from a 4-day camping trip. My truck is a PB FX4 with the 7.2. My camping trailer is just over 6k loaded. The truck pulls like a dream. We ended up going just over 500 miles with approximately 4k in elevation change. The truck never looked for more power passing or climbing in the mountains. The gas mileage sucked (Avg 8.5) but I did not expect much better. The biggest winner of the weekend for me was the pro power onboard. It worked as advertised. We were camping with 5 other families and trailers and they were all jealous. I stayed plugged in and ran my furnace all night and would only lose a few miles every night (went to bed with 225 to empty and woke up 221 to empty.) My truck was parked 50 feet from my camper so I never heard it turn on. I did hear all the other generators kick on around 5 am when their batteries died. I have 1100 miles on the truck in the first 2 weeks and I am loving it!!!

Extra-awesome! This is just the kind of stuff I like to hear while waiting for my long-lost truck. I do a lot of stuff in Virginia by the beach (sailing/camping) and am looking to trying out the ProPower there for sure... and nice to know it'll tow my boat no problem. Thanks for the report!

Tried to get the first wash in today, but ran out of time before work. Tried ONR, with Big Red Sponge, and drying with OptSeal. I am very impressed with it so far. Got all the exterior cleaned up except running boards and tires.

Sadly I think I need to ditch Pixie? I thought she could tow 11k but apparently only 7k? Tow technology package. Extremely frustrating because not a single person anywhere can tell me what the “tow package” adds to the truck to increase capacity by 4k lbs. Nobody knows…including ford??‍♀ I saw some speculation out there about the front stabilizers but hers are solid due to the GAWR - PB….does anyone here know what your truck has that she doesn’t? I’m heartbroken ? And there aren’t any PB with 7.2kw as far as my eyes can see. I can’t wait until next year for truck. I’m screwed ?

I believe the big things that help you tow more with the max trailer tow package are a different differential on the rear end with better ratios for towing, and (I think) an oil cooler to keep your oil temperature down when the engine is under strain (plus some other stuff to make towing easier).

I didn't get it on mine because my boat and trailer are less than 5000 lbs so I have PLENTY to spare without the max tow. Also, I've heard reports from the field (online reviews, etc) that their trucks have pulled plenty more than the tow rating. Really, unless I was hauling a four-horse trailer or a flatbead with tractors, I think the regular tow package (which is still pretty beefy... class IV hitch, etc) is more than enough.

You say the regular tow package is “beefy”…are referring to the trailer tow package, and if so .what does it add??? This is the info I can’t find!
Tow Tech(17T) = 7k lbs
Trailer tow (53A)= 11k lbs
Max trailer tow (53C) = 12.4k lbs
It’s clear what Max tow adds but trailer tow -to get that extra 4k lbs- nobody can tell what is added there?

It’s a very frustrating thing to find. I had the same issue, but it was more for capability than need so I still took my truck. I did a lot of research on it an I’m pretty confident the only difference when it comes to the Powerboost is your sticker says 7000 not 11000.

What I could find per VEHQ.com:

The Max Trailer Tow Package is only available on the F-150. It adds up to 2700 pounds more towing capacity over the standard Trailer Tow Package on a similarly configured truck. Some configurations on the F-250, F-350, and Expedition, offer similar gains. Depending on the other options and configurations you choose, the Trailer Tow Package includes:

  • 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness
  • Auxiliary transmission oil cooler
  • Engine Oil Cooler
  • Class IV trailer hitch receiver
  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist
  • Tailgate LED
  • Smart Trailer Tow Connector
  • Upgraded front stabilizer bar
The Max Trailer Tow Package includes everything in the standard package except the auxiliary transmission oil cooler. Added in the Max Trailer Tow Package are:

  • 3.55 Electronic-locking rear axle
  • 36-gallon fuel tank
  • Integrated Trailer Brake Controller
  • Upgraded rear bumper
To add the Max Trailer Tow Package, you also have to switch to the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine.

I did some extensive research on this before I bought my powerboost:

Here are my findings:

If you get a powerboost, you already have standard (regardless of Regular Trailer Tow package)

- Same heavy duty front sway bar as Trailer Tow (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...-vs-tow-vs-max-tow-updated-doc-v4.1188/page-9)
- Same 7350 GVWR frame (all powerboosts)
- Same 3.73 Rear locking differential
- Same 9.75 (non HD) rear axle as regular & Max Trailer tow package Powerboosts (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/attachments/2021-f-150-weights-specs-pdf.10601/ pg 20 & 32)
- Same largest radiator (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/attachments/2021-f-150-weights-specs-pdf.10601/ pg 20)
- Same lack of aux trans oil cooler. You cannot get an auxilliary trans oil cooler on 2021 non-Raptor (https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/...-guides/2021_Ford_RVandTrailerTowingGuide.pdf pg 20)
- Same brake disc size (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/attachments/2021-f-150-weights-specs-pdf.10601/ pg 33)

The only difference I found between a Powerboost with Class IV and Tow Tech compared to Trailer tow:
- Trailer Tow gives larger parking brake (pg 33 https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/attachments/2021-f-150-weights-specs-pdf.10601/)

So you have same cooling, same chassis, same capacity hitch, and same disk brakes as trailer tow + brake controller.

The only thing you don't have is the larger parking brake.

I think if you use blocks and are smart when parking, you should be good to tow to the Regular Trailer Tow package rating with Tow Tech + Class IV on a Powerboost.

Also note that ford's subnote in their tow rating guide says "without Trailer Tow and only the Class IV hitch, do not exceed 7K..." They make no mention of Tow Tech, so the above may assume you don't have a brake controller.

**Correction** :
I verified by part number that I do in fact have the larger medium/heavy duty parking brake actuator shown here on my Powerboost 4x4 Tow Tech

I’m thinking the same! My build has the solid stabilizer based on GAWR, cooling is the same on standard vs tow in regards to the PB, and rear axle is also heavier from what I have found…

The other powerboost not need IMO is FX4...

My non FX4 PB 4x4 has E locker, AT tires, metal engine skid plate, and fuel tank skid plate like my parent's FX4 PB.

I can add the Hill Descent control with $20 and some forscan progamming.

I think we have conducted the same research ? By my estimation the trailer tow might actually decrease my capabilities as I would have the same specifications without the technology ??‍♀ (Aside from the parking break of course) And I don’t plan on towing 11k lbs, just like knowing I have a large buffer. Looking at trailers in the 6-6500lb range DRY 25’ ball to bumper, probably be between 7-8,000lbs full.
