7 pin to 4 pin adapter.

My first 7 to 4 pin adapter fit the truck fine, but my boat trailer and utility trailer 4 pin plugs wouldn’t fit into the adapter. It was way too tight/small. Took it to the dealership and they gave me another. Got home, same issue with the plugs not fitting. Took it back and got a third, it still won’t fit! Went to a friends house to check the plugs on his stuff with 4 pin plugs and they don’t fit either.

The holes are too dang small on three adapters that I’ve tried. Anybody else seen this issue? Why couldn’t they have just put the 4 pin plug on the truck like previous model years? I know I’ll never use that cord thing and other plug that came on the truck. I’ll use the seven pin, but the lower plug is absolutely useless to me.

I've had similar experiences, I am thinking I am going to try and buy an aftermarket one before I wreck all my trailer wiring plugs.

My truck came with one too, it just took two more trips back to the dealer to get one that fit the 4 pin plug. I'm betting Ford will see several issues with these. The 7 pin fits the truck fine, but 4 pin plugs won't fit into the adapter. I wrecked a boat plug and trailer plug before I got one that would actually allow you to plug something into it.

Agree Ford adapter does not work. I bought one at true value hardware. The Hopkins brand did not work, 7 pin would not plug in

It’s for the Smart Trailer Tow Connector. There’s a box that you attach to your trailer and the wire connects there.

For anyone else looking for a 7 to 4 pin, I currently use this one on my Traverse. It works great.

does anyone have a P/N for that adapter. I lost my adapter and called the dealer and they keep giving me the part that actually goes in the bumper. Tried to by an aftermarket on but its trash, granted it was from harbor freight..

I would just buy one from Reese or Curt. Available from Walmart, Amazon, Napa.
