Hey everybody,
Like the title says, I’m going on 4 months since I ordered my F-150 Lariat. It’s pretty much loaded out so im assuming that doesn’t help much, and the salesmen told us the usual “4-6 week turn around” (which I knew was a lie) but I have yet to even receive a VIN number for my truck. It seems like most people at least have that. He said that my truck is in a “line queue”, meaning it’s just a build sheet sitting in a favorite somewhere. They’re so back logged they can’t even generate a VIN number. I get it’s a tough time right now, but I’m seriously considering canceling my order and just getting a Wrangler or Ram instead (I’ll drive just about anything). Anyone else in this boat or that was in this boat?

Just read through some of the threads and you will find there are many in the same boat. Many worse off than you or I. My order was placed on 1/26/22, confirmed same day, still no VIN for me either. I have thought - and am thinking - about whether or not to cancel. Particularly as I read about Ford arbitrarily canceling options or shipping trucks without chips (non-functioning options) and saying they will supply chip within a year. Don't know what to believe since no one seem to know anything!! It is frustrating when there is no communication from Ford regarding order status, or the process in which they select orders for scheduling. I get there are supply disruptions and part shortages that may affect scheduling ability, but Ford should be able to communicate something to its customers and dealers. Anyway, good luck with your decision!

I ordered a mid Lariat on 1/29. Its on the assembly line, should be finished tomorrow or Sunday. People have ordered Platinum and have gotten better results than you. Not sure if its a dealer with low allocation,or just bad luck

There are open orders from October and earlier that haven't received a VIN on this forum. I ordered "early" since I needed a truck by mid June and figured early December was more than enough time.

No VIN yet.

Oops.

If a dealer told me 4-6 weeks, i would have walked out and found an honest dealer.

This is the 5th vehicle i have ordered. The most recents had been a 2014 F150 and a 2019 Ranger.

No vehicle pre covid was delivered in 4-6 weeks. The fastest delivery was just over 3 months.

And i doubt you can get anything else faster. RAM, Chevy, and Jeep lots are just as empty as the Ford lots. This isnt a "Ford" thing.

And Jeeps are the most over priced things out there. IMO of course.

It's frustrating. I ordered back in October and have yet to recieve a VIN. But there are those who have been waiting longer than me.

Order Lariat 1/15/22 confirmed same day - no VIN yet. They didn't schedule any F150s for a while, then had 2 weeks (this past week and the week before) where they scheduled some. Now it appears they are back to not scheduling F150s next week.

I think we are going to be waiting a while. I think if I haven't received a VIN before June, I am going to start looking for other options.

I’m starting to wonder what’s worse.

Waiting for a VIN or having a VIN and receiving Scheduled build weeks made of Teflon?

From my perspective it is completely random. The weatherman is more accurate at predicting things than a Ford dealer predicting a delivery date. Somebody with the same order as you is going to get their truck months before you and somebody else is going to get it months after you... It was 9 months before I received a VIN.

I'm gonna say waiting for VIN (for now). At least a VIN would let you endlessly see no updates on the tracker. I can't even do that yet!

My 2020 f150 was a factory order and I got it in 4 weeks. Before Covid lol
