4,800 miles and the AC went out

Just like the subject line said. Today while the family and I were out, the AC in my 2025 Tremor went out. 4,800 miles and I have a problem. I

'd like to say it isn't a big deal but I've been dealing with something similar with my work car. It's been to the shop 4 separate times for the AC going out. And at 4,800 miles, it doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

Scheduling it to be dropped off this week and thankfully it's under warranty. But man, what an inconvenience when this is the family vehicle.

No it's blowing hot air. It happened while I was parked, waiting for my wife outside of the grocery store.

Idle went weird and then the AC went out. Idle is back to normal but it's just hot air.

Sounds like the compressor may have failed since the idle changed at the same time. Rare for them to fail this soon, but not unheard of. 100% warranty given the mileage of the truck. Dealer should have all the parts in stock for it and will probably only take 1-2 days to pull it apart, flush the AC lines out to remove any possible debris, then replace the compressor, expansion valve, and dryer.

In 2023 Fords A/C systems in their F-150's where problematic, the TXV Valve was always failing, you might have that problem, but the way you describe it it sounds like your compressor packed it in.

Got word from Ford that the compressor seized. Wasn't really news as I figured it would be the compressor.

They then told me the parts are on backorder and they didn't know when they would be getting them. That didn't sit well for me. But, by the grace of God, they got the parts in and I should be getting her back today.

Good that they got you taken care of so quickly. Can't tell you how many times I have been told by a Ford service writer that "the parts are on backorder, no eta on delivery" only to have them arrive the very next day... lol.

I know same experience with the back order statement. How do they not know if it’s in stock or not? Are their inventory systems that off???

From talking with parts departments and service managers about it I found this out. If the dealer doesn't have it in stock locally or in their immediate warehouses it may show up as back ordered. The parts order is then sent to corporate parts supply which places it to the manufacturers. If there are surplus inventory on the requested parts they are then shipped out to the requesting dealership. All the dealer receives at this point is a shipping notice from Ford ports supply that it's been sent to them but no tracking info is provided by Ford or the manufacturer so it can take a day to a week to arrive depending on the part size/weight and shipping method.

Heck, I had to wait a full 24 hours to get a $48 rear cab vent. Dont think dealers stock anything anymore.

I miss the days of dropping my truck off in the morning. Them diagnosing the problem and having the part after lunch and having my truck back that afternoon.

Welp, got the truck back this evening properly cleaned. The guy forgot his phone in my truck and they forgot their thermometer in the vent. Other than that, it's so nice to have her back.
