Today for the second time in about a month, my 2023 experienced the AC unit basically shutting down - little to no cold air blowing and no change by either decreasing temperature, going to "Max air", adjusting fan speed, or changing "auto" selection on and off. It basically goes into a limp along mode where there is a small, and I mean small amount of air coming out of the vents. My guess is tomorrow after it sits all night, the AC will operate normally.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? Before taking it in to the dealer, I'd like to be able to steer them in the right direction if someone else as already had a similar situation resolved for them.

Your evap coil inside cab is probably freezing up and blocking air flow. I am assuming it was hot today and you ran it full cold on high fan with recirculating on.

Most likely your evaporator is freezing up. Basically turning into a block of ice restricting air flow. There is an available HVAC module software update, that could be applied to your truck, that should correct this issue. The update will make a small change to the evaporator core temperature sensor logic. Stopping ice from forming.

Thanks for the replies. My bad for not doing a more thorough search on the topic before posting. Clearly, my truck needs a re-programming per TSB 24-2093 and I will be scheduling with the dealer to get it done.

Are you still in warranty (i.e. less than 36K miles on your ‘23)? TSBs aren’t free if you aren’t.

My 24’ was having the same issue. Went to the dealer and had the HVAC module updated. While the update made the issue happen far less often it would still happen at the worst moments imaginable. Zero signs of life from the AC on days with high temperature and humidity. The next step according to the dealer is the replacement of the EVAP core, which requires removal of the dash. Not looking forward to this fix, but if it fixes the issue for good I am willing to do it. It’s a real kick to the nuts to have an issue like this on a truck with 8k miles.
