In this one I show how to install both the precut sound deadening kit from SoundSkins and the door access block off plates from Soundsgoodstereo. Overall this is a fairly straightforward, cost effective, and quick way to improve the efficiency of your factory stereo system.

After upgrading the factory door speakers to Kicker CS and DS series I was thinking I'd still need a sub to fill the low end. Instead I did this about a year ago and the improvement to mid-bass is simply amazing. Worth every penny spent. There's still a drop-off at the lower range of the sub frequency that the door speakers just can't produce but it's not that much of an issue for the music I listen to. Doing this upgrade is the single best bang for the buck you can make to the factory sound system.

Love em. For the price they perform amazingly well off just the factory head unit power. One of the main reasons I went with them since I didn't have immediate plans to install a 4 channel. Impressive bass, powerful mids and crisp highs without clipping up past up to as loud as I listen to. 14-15. They add a ton of brightness and clarity compared to factory to the sound stage especially if you adjust the F/R fade back a few clicks. They were decent before adding the door plates but after installing these speakers just came alive. You'd think I installed a small sub or have an amp in it by the difference it made.

Do you have the base system or the 8-speaker B&O on your truck?

Mine has the base system and honestly it sounds as good if not better than the B&O now. So can only imagine how much better the B&O would sound since it has more power than the base does. The only thing that might come into play is the bass fall off with B&O that the base unit doesn't really suffer from.

Thanks! Been thinking about the block off plates for my 8-speaker B&O. It's not a bad system, but it's a step down from the 10-speaker B&O in the previous generation. Just having a little more power or efficiency would probably be enough for me to be happy with it.

Do it. Worth every penny. Since you'll be in there, definitely look at upgrading the factory speakers as well. Oh and Sounds Good Stereo also makes a plate for the B&O sub behind the rear seat. ;)

Lastly definitely want to run a bead of silicone around the plates where the factory seal plastic is. Otherwise you will likely get a little water seeping in past them and develop a small leak. Nothing fancy needed just plain clear silicone caulking will do. I forgot to do that and mine leaked a little bit and I only discovered it when I was chasing down a different leak that ended up being the rear slider glass.

I thought about doing speakers, just need to be careful and get something with good sensitivity otherwise I may see less output than that stock speakers.

The rear subwoofer block off plate is just if you're replacing it with a different sub, since it's externally ported, right? I probably won't replace that.

I wanted a truck with the Unleashed system, but was trying to use a PCO on a leftover 2023 and the ones on lots with that system had chrome, or didn't have the 360° cameras, so this truck with the 8-speaker was as close as I could get to being ideally optioned.

Both the Kicker 46CSC674 6.75" and DSC6930 6x9 I went with have very high sensitivity levels and work extremely well with lower power or when amplified, and should be much better than the stock speakers, even the B&O's.

I was unaware that the stock sub opened to the back of the cab and that the plate was just to seal the hole up if you removed the oem sub for aftermarket.

The kicker KS are similarly sensitive (90 to 92 dB/W) and the silk tweeters sound pretty nice to my ear, albeit a little more expensive. The component 6x9 KS set also is a drop-in fitment for the 1" Tweeters in the A-pillar that come with the B&O system.

I can't say if they work better or worse than the DS or CS on a stock system.

How much of a road noise/exterior noise reduction did you notice after the deadening/block off plates? I want to upgrade some of my unleashed system speakers but I’m more interested in having a much quieter commute when the radio is on low volume

Enough so that I can hear my turbos spooling clear as day when the radio is off. It was an excellent upgrade and one I’ll make to any car I own. What stopped me from doing it before was my lack of patience.
