On October 2nd the dashboard lit up with multiple messages. It’s a 23 Lariat 3.5 Hybrid with 24,147mi.
What happened? Powertrain fault, Electrical Fault, Service Engine, wrench and motor icons. Resulting in a very rough idle and barely enough power to make 15 mph. Restart attempted didn’t make a difference. Crawled and limped into the dealership and left it for repair.
Failure occurred in slippery mode and 4A, code stored identifed throttle body fault.
Days pass.
Picked it up on the 7th. Didn’t get all the way home (5 miles) when the dashboard lit up again. Got it home, this time I called Ford and had it towed.
Days pass waiting for parts.
Throttle body arrives and techs replace it. During the test drive the same error sequence occurred… it failed on the mechanic who made the repair. He barely made it back to the shop. Same symptom the dash lit up with the same three errors, lost power and exhibited the same symptoms I experienced.
Days pass while diagnostics continue. Dealer runs into a dead end. They open an engineering ticket with ford. Ford and the tech performed diagnostics that have identified the ‘Main Engine harness’ as the root cause.
ETA 10/31
Dealer has provided a rental 2025 F-150 XLT for me to drive while it’s in the shop.
