So started a new thread on this because I made a quick summary video, still no help from Ford and the other thread had a lot of "other" information in it. Please feel free to share or post this video anywhere you think it may be helpful.

Crazy that they went through the trouble of a making a twin alternator 24v discrete system just for that inverter yet it's complete trash. That thing should be a 2kW rated, 3kW 5 second surge pure sinewave inverter. Instead it's hot garbage.

Agree. It's even more frustrating when you ask them to look at it and they have no test tools... no o'scope and not even a multimeter. Simply plug in a saw and, if it turns, it's good.

Side note on this, if I can't get the state lemon law enacted on this (or other legal means), I'll look into replacing the inverter with a 3rd party product.

What's the best way to get wiring diagrams for Ford vehicles? Hopefully shouldn't be too hard to figure out without them but would probably be nice to have.

Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if it's the same garbage in the 7.2KW inverter. I don't have anything to test with

I haven't thrown a scope on mine to look at waveforms but no problem running reactive or resistive loads to spec on the 7.2kw system. What's different is that the 7.2kw inverter runs primarily off of the HV battery so it has a low-impedance current source. And I don't know for certain, but would have to assume that the 2.4kw system does as well.

Be interesting to see any other 2Kw trucks run the same circular saw test.

No, the 7.2 is clean, it's just that its limit is 7.6kW.

My understanding is the the only issues are with the 2KW package.

So pulled the cover on the inverter just to get a part number. Figured if it was cheap enough, I'd just replace it myself.

I put the part number in on Ford's parts site and it comes back as "Low air pressure sender cover" for $1036. Can these guys do anything right?

That price, by the way, is more than the initial package which included the inverter, 2 extra batteries, second alternator, wiring, outlets, etc.

Another note. Right on the part number tag it states "SCRAP IF DROPPED". Guessing ours was dropped, kicked and thrown against a wall. Also says something about how durable it is.

Most of ford's electronics say scrap if dropped, others say something about inspect/test.

First Ford... didn't know that.

Still suspect ours was dropped, kicked and thrown against a wall.

And the sage continues...

I was hoping that maybe I had just received a bad inverter and since Ford was refusing to replace it (under new truck warranty or extended warranty), I bit the bullet and purchased a new inverter on my buck.

Just installed it and exact same results. Messed up waveform, frequency reading 190 Hz, RV surge suppressor doesn't like the power and the AC won't run. I didn't grab a circular saw blade again but no reason to think it's any different.

I don't like to use the word hate very often (wife says I should never use it) but... I hate Ford Motor Company.

Old thread but wanted to post an update. It's been over a year now and Ford never stepped up to replace this absolutely horrible inverter... probably because most of them are bad (I tested 3 different ones and all had the same broken waveform).

I've never been a big fan of little battery power stations but, seriously, they've come a long way. Bluetti had their AC180 on sale recently so decided to pick one up hoping the truck would at least charge it.

Lo and behold, the Bluetti actually has a "my input power sucks" option (almost like they put that feature in specifically for the Ford ProPower system) so hopes were high. I just ran a test and it allows the mucked up power from the truck to charge it. ?

Bottom line is that the Bluetti has become the camping solution to the truck's horrible ProPower system (THE reason we purchased the truck). The bad news is that the overall efficiency is a little worse but... it's now functional.

So I can use the ProPower to charge the Bluetti which will then silently (and cleanly) power our camper when needed. Also a plus is that the Bluetti can be be charged via solar which is a nice option. It will even (almost silently) run the camper's air conditioner for about 40 minutes which is nice for cooling off the camper in 5 to 10 minute spurts. The fact that this little box will run our A/C for that long just blows me away. Additionally, it can power loads and charge simultaneously while using 2 different charging sources.

Anyhow, this post is sounding like an ad for the Bluetti but I'm pretty impressed with it. I haven't checked any followup posts on these inverters lately but I'm guessing that since I finally have a workable solution, there's an easier solution out there now. :)

Sucks to hear that system is so poor despite having the alternators to actually make it decent.

Meanwhile PB owners w/ pure sine wave inverters w/ hybrid generator mode be like
