Hi - I have a 2021 F150 5.5 bed supercrew 5.0 Sport and plan to keep sport wheels but upgrade tires. I currently have 275 60 20 Falken AT3s which are great, but worn out. It is not currently leveled, but I plan to level 2" in future.

Question: I am trying to decide between 295 60 20 or 285 60 20 or 285 65 20. Looking at BFG KO3 and the price difference between 285 60 and 295 60 is $100. Looking at calculators, the 295 60 is less than a half inch wider and taller.

What would you do?

If you're needing to air down for off-roading, especially the beach, length of contact patch is more important than width. Therefore, as high a sidewall as you can fit will give that result when you air down. Therefore, the best choice is 285/65R20.

If you're not off-roading, it doesn't matter much.

just go 295.

changing ride height does not affect tire clearance for IFS btw. unless youre extending bump stops to limit up travel. The wheel still cycles vertically in the same arc, youre just changing where it's sitting at (normal ride height) when you level it.

Thanks. I should have been more specific with my post, but I am trying to decide primarily between 285 60 20 vs. 295 60 20. I tend to like the look of the wider 295 series but the difference in price is about $400 total for a set so trying to determine if the 295 is really worth it. On stock wheels not sure how noticeable it would be running the 295 vs. 285 coming from a current 275 series. Hard to tell with pics online if worth the extra money for a little more width...

If the choice is between those two sizes in the same brand and model of tire just go with the cheaper one. The decision would be more difficult if you're trying to decide between two different brands or models. That's when you have to take into account the weight, warranty, and all the other differences.

You’re not gaining anything other than cost and weight by going wider.

If you just want to fill the wheel well look at 275/65r20

Gives you 34s and won’t rub.

From a visual perspective, I think 295s look like balloons, and not in a good way, on OEM wheels.

285s width wise, fit perfectly.

This. When aired down you don't gain any more contact patch but the larger rubber on the road will eat into mileage. 275-65-20 comes out to 34.1"

Great. I have a 2022 Lariat 4x4 sport and have the OEM Dynapro 275/60-20 tires and wanted to either go to the 275/65-20 or the 285/60-20. Both are a bit taller. Discount tire told me the 275/65 would rub so they would not sell me those tires unless I had a leveling kit. Most comments i have seen are saying they dont rub. Just wanted a bit larger tire to fill the wheel well...
