2024 F150 STX Husky RVL Flares Review / Install
Recently purchased a set of Husky RVL flares, after some research, upon purchase fitment for a 2024 was not confirmed, but I still choose to purchase them as I researched the fenders of a 2021 – 2023 were pretty much identical to the 2024. Not much information was available for these fender flares online, so took a chance.
Installation time – Roughly 2.5hrs, worked on them pretty slowly.
After receiving the flares, I began my installation in my garage. Product quality is very good, no trimming required but due to production of any product some trimming may be required for others, but my set didn’t require any trimming. The finish was smooth with no imperfections, choose to not paint match to vehicle as I wanted a black rugged appearance which matched the vehicles already black components. The package came with all required hardware/ wires/ connectors etc. The only thing you need are tools which are described in the installation process.
These flares come with a LED lamp at the 12 o clock position on the flares, a major plus imo. Flares protrude out roughly 1.5” out from fender which is a modest poke, which is what I was aiming for, didn’t want any huge flares like those pocket styles. Husky provides 5 lamp housing covers, odd until I released why. From my experience, be extremely careful, with the lamp housings, Husky provides you 5 covers, I suspect due to the high chance of cracking during installation. I did crack one while I was holding up the flares for fitment reasons, DO NOT push up where the lamp is during test fitting.
Due to the kit being specific for 21 – 23 F150, some changes were made to the 24. Front fender liner upper section has no clips or hardware, only 9 o clock and 2 o-clock were present for MY24. I followed Huskys installation video, and most of it works for MY24. Wiring the lamps were straight forward, I wired mine front flare lamp to the side marker from headlamp, easily loosen front fender liner and you’ll see the socket for the side marker bulb. Accessing the connector from the top was extremely time consuming and removal of other components would be required, highly recommend accessing connector via fender liner area. Husky provides pos-tap fittings which make the installation of wiring tapping extremely easy. Now the rear wiring was a little tricky as the video installation is from a 21, with LED tail lamps. Although MY24 operates with LED, the main brake bulbs are halogen, for a STX model, id assume it’s the same until you get a LARIAT which comes with full LED integration. I already switched out my halogen bulbs for LED bulbs to increase the brightness. I wired the flare lamps in the rear to the brake lamp connector. There are two connectors, the LED *reverse/ zone lamping* and the brake lamp connector. I was unable to find any wiring diagrams for MY24, as its too new I suppose. All 21-23 wiring diagrams do not follow the MY24 halogen tail lamp wiring. To make it easier for anybody doing this, I tapped the brake lamp bulbs, there are 3 wires. See the picture. This only works for having the lamps operate as parking lamp function, they are not wired for signal application with the wiring I did. Making them operate with signal will require a different wire tap, most likely to the LED connector for CAN system. Once wired, the fitment install is straight forward, all positions are the same as 21-23 F150. Some locations require re-use of OEM hardware as the provided aftermarket hardware threads were not the same. Overall, I can 100% confirm they do fit and conform to the MY24 body.
Extremely happy with the fitment and end result. Now I just need my tires and wheel setup to arrival, and the exterior look will be mostly complete. Ran the flares on a few deep water crossings, and they hold up extremely well and expel water very well. I ran into the water at a pretty good speed so, they hold up SOLID, even moving the flares will move the entire cab. These are not going anywhere. Highly suggest these flares, as I never seen anybody run these where Im from, and being a little unique always has its benefits. The appearance now reassembles a RAPTOR, imo. But not too aggressive which is exactly what I wanted. Let me know how what you think of these flares, LIKE or DISLIKE ?
