I'm about to pickup a new work truck in a few weeks. Going from a '23 XL 2.7L to a '25 XL powerboost. My company is very relaxed and this is my only vehicle, I can use it for whatever, whenever (to an extent).
The one question I had was the tire size that comes on the '25 I'm about to pickup.
My current truck has 275/60/r20s. Just got some nice Conti terraincontacts put on about 10K miles ago.
The new one will come with 265/70/r17s. Don't know what brand of tires I'll get on the new one.
Will there be a noticeable difference in ride or handling? There's a 1.4" height difference between the tire sizes.
I've heard that I can ask the dealer I'm picking up from if they will swap the wheels from my previous truck to the new one. I believe others have done this on their fleet trucks. Besides the look of the 20" wheel, is there a reason to keep the larger wheel/tire combo?
Just curious on what you would do.
Would I also have to find a way to reprogram the speedometer if I changed tire size height?
