Muffler Delete on 2024 F-150 5.0 (Video Sound Clip)

Went ahead and had the suitcase of a muffler removed from my 2024 Lariat this week. Has the BAP with the factory dual exhaust after the muffler. They put a stainless Y-pipe in it's place and painted it up. Cost me $600, which sort of surprised me. The old "it'll only cost $100 to remove a muffler" doesn't seem to be true in my area.

No drone on the highway or any RPM at all really.

That's suburban Boston for you. They made the Y-pipe from scratch, so I sort of get it, but I was a bit surprised at the cost. If it was just a single pipe, I'm sure it would have been more palatable. But you only live once, right?

Yeah, thanks. This shop is not known to be cheap, but there are also not many around here. And I don't weld, so tell me what my choices were? $1200 cat back system instead?

Not sure you guys in other parts of this great Country realize how hard the "auto enthusiast" hobby is to adhere to up here in this $hithole.

drone is subjective, really doubt there’s no drone, specially on the highway, but it does sound good ?

And comment...if drone is subjective, and I don't hear any...doesn't that mean "I have no drone"? I didn't keep it in every gear at all different highway speeds to try to find it, but normal driving in my normal modes and my regular speeds and nothing intrusive came into the cabin. And all exhaust systems are subjective...from fart cans on imports to the obnoxious Harley pipes, we all hear things differently

What shop did you go to? I am up in Chelmsford. Lou's Customs is 350 to do a muffler swap. 4 years ago I think I paid 260 for the same thing.

Lou's in Stoughton (actually Canton). I used them years ago for a full Volvo turbo exhaust and it was just under $600. Post "covid", new shop, bigger staff, much busier now..and 1 pipe into 2 delete not as straightforward as a simple straight pipe.

Believe me, I know it cost more than it probably should have in other parts of the Country. I'm okay with paying someone else doing the work I can't do...within reason
