Hi everyone,

Long time lurker, first time posting here.

Last week I purchased a 2025 Platinum PB, coming from a 22 Platinum PB that I also bought new and put 60k miles on.

I've noticed a few things that I kinda miss about my 22:

First off, I'm completely missing my interior power tailgate button! WTF. I can't find any other post about this on the forums, so I thought I'd share. I used that button all the time on my 22, super annoying that not only it's gone, but it's a completely blank area instead... they could've just kept the button!

I also miss the LED confirmation of remote starting on my keyfobs. At my house we have spotty cell service, which means the phone app is like 50/50 on whether it will actually connect to my truck in the driveway so I always just use my fob. I miss the little green/red confirmation of the truck actually running or not. It's important here in SE Pennsylvania, it's cold!

The other thing I noticed is there is no LED indicator on the start/stop button anymore either. When you remote start the truck it used to flash orange to let you know that you need to hit the button to get the truck into run mode.

One good thing is I had the awful mold smell happen in my old truck anytime it rained and I pinpointed it to the giant foam pad that was stuck to the back of the cab between the cab and bed. They have removed that pad for 25, at least on my truck its gone.

With that being said, the new gauge cluster features with the detailed gauge options, the speed of the sync system, the awesome HUD, and just general feel of the truck feels very "polished" compared to my 22. I loved my 22 but this one just feels a tiny bit better all around.

I also did some reading here and specifically optioned the NON-Fx4 package on my 702a. My 22 did have the Fx4 because I didnt know any better about the suspension changes (removal of the CCD with FX4 package). Happy to report the 25 is a pretty extreme difference in how much smoother it rides, but also more controlled cornering as well.

I do have some light QC issues on the new truck though - I have the highway windshield whistle that seems to stem from a lack of sealant in the A pillar/hood cowl area. My lumbar seat will randomly and fully deflate on its own during a drive and my power running boards really growl as they extend sometimes.

Other than that stuff, I really love the truck. The multifunction tailgate (which I thought was gimmicky) is awesome and I've used the heck out of it even in just one week of owning the truck.

I know some of this seems super nitpicky but geez, $90k for a truck and I am getting less than before. The little LED lights are one thing, but the missing tailgate button - I'm salty about that one.

Thanks for the update and best wishes on your new 25 platinum but more than ever I am happy with what came on and what I ordered on my 22 Lariat 500A package V8 with all the items you are missing for the price I paid. Price is what you pay, Value is what you receive. Ordering Factory I rec exactly what I wanted and nothing of what i did not value paying for and YES, Love the auto tailgate with step up installed. Mostly why I sold my 19 Ranger XLT and upgraded.

I own a 21, PB Limited w/900A package. I am a bit disappointed at how much stripping down Ford has done even on their top tier Platinum for features. I intend to hang on to my 21 as it’s still low miles at 33k, but I can see even ordering something newer down the road will come with a lot of features removed. I wish you the best on your 25 and a great experience.

Appreciate updates like these. New owner reviews are extremely valuable in my opinion.

I had heard awhile back that Ford removed like miles of wiring inside the truck... obviously lowering the cost of building them. So my guess is with them doing that they had to make the decision to remove some stuff. And I agree, the little details are what takes a vehicle to the next level of comfort. It is frustrating. What makes it even more frustrating is when they remove a button they do not even have the decency to finish off the dash so it doesn't have that blank plate looking like its missing available options.

I am glad you are happy with your 25. It is a nice looking truck. I am on the fence when it comes to the FX4 package myself.

But I have a very hard time coming to terms that they are stripping away many of the small details: the quality pillar keypad and charging a premium price for a shitty tape-on version, the power tailgate button, the buttons on top of the center console and just filling it in with blank plates, the LED light in the start button. Individually, not a big deal (except for the keypad, which is a very big deal for me). But they really add up and take away from what is supposed to be a top-of-the-line truck. This is a Platinum, not an XL.

I am not one of those who will swear off of Ford because of it, but it certainly degrades the brand and will make it a whole lot easier to look at GMC when it is time for a new truck. At the very least charging more money for fewer features damages any loyalty I have (or had) toward Ford. My plan is to hold on to my 22 as long as I can and see if Ford can get their act together.

I don't think it is a coincidence that Ford has been bumped from the #1 spot after they start pulling these shenanigans.
