Looking for some advice in upgrading my base system in my 22 F-150. I do not have the B&O (thank goodness as it seems many hate it).

What I am looking to do -
-upgrade fronts
-upgrade rears
-add subs under or behind seat
-amplify it all

I have had numerous conversations with cruthfield, and this is something I admittedly do not have alot of experience with. Looking for good quality sound with some decent mids/ lows and highs when needed.

Budget wise, I would like to stay around 2k.

What I was looking at:

Front Doors & Pillar Tweeter

Morel Maximo 602 Ultras MKII

Rear Doors (do I need or want coax?)

Maximo Ultra 602 COAX

Looking for other recommendations if you have them, for speakers, amps to run them and looking into MTI for box and setup

In your case, I would get rid of all the factory stuff and have one amp for mids/highs and another one for the bass. Anything you put in there will be a VAST improvement over what you have.

I'm sure it would sound great. If you aren't going with a DSP, you may want to add a center channel on the dash (or, just listen to it first and determine if you want to add one later). Otherwise, ask your audio shop for their opinion on a Kicker Key 200.4 instead of the AC acm. It is believed the Audio Control amp is under-rated in terms of its true power and may be louder than the Kicker Key amp, but if you are only going for one 12" sub, it should be enough to power your mids/highs. If you're going with a Kicker amp for your bass, having two Kicker amps would make everything match and be prettier.

I got a similar set up from HCA with the Morels, T-Harness and the Kicker Key 200/4. Tuning was a bit confusing to me and Ive been doing sound systems for 40 years. Initially I thought simply upgrading the speakers was significant improvement and then once I found the right set up for the key the sound was a large improvement from stock. Having it now for a month or two I’m beginning to feel this set up is bit underwhelming and if perhaps a different speaker choice would make a bigger difference or maybe scrap the key for more powerful amp? My truck also has a significant amount of sound deadening to all the doors and rear of the cab.

Its a significant improvement but like a lot of audio upgrades I feel there’s more to be achieved.

If the KEY is setup right, I bet your just wanting more power. 50x4 is a great OEM upgrade, and plenty for most. But 50 watts isn't alot of power for those getting used to the way it is, and wants more.

I once had to drie a truck across TX back to Oklahoma, It had four 18" woofers. Killed my ears when I first drove it. After 3 days, I was like "this truck needs more..."
That was 30 years ago tho LOL

I agree 100% that he just got used to it and now wants more.

Audio upgrades are like performance upgrades. The more you get.......the more you want.

It is. I did have some harness related issues and I'm not a fan of his support. But he does provide a pretty good kit to make it all happen.
