Recently my 21 powerboost starting making a thud-thud noise when reversing. It would increase in frequency as you reversed faster. I read on the forums it could be a heat shield touching the drive shaft and crawled under the truck to take a look. I found that two of the soft shields were touching the drive shaft right where the drive shaft leaves the transfer case. I used some adhesive to just stick them back up and problem solved. Took pictures and videos and though I would share. This did resolve the reverse thud.

There's a recall for that on the 2021's

Fixing it yourself is far less trouble than dealing with..... You know, dealers. :)

However, Ford often replaced the driveshafts with those shiny polished spots from the contact with the drooping pad.
Turns out those aluminum outer walls of the driveshaft are very very thin.

There's a few disturbing pictures of them broken on the forum

Yeah. I thought about that. But I'm not worried about it. The shiny spots on my drive shaft aren't even where the shield was touching. So I don't think it's related despite the look and similar pictures in the other threads. I'll roll those dice until I take it into the stealership again. Dealing with them wasn't worth the five minutes and five dollars lol.
