2024 XL Console Shifter Swap requires Forscan changes?

I finally gathered everything for a console and console shifter swap in my '24 single cab XL. I disconnected the battery, followed 3 different videos but when I got it all back together, I got the following errors: Shift System Fault, Hill Climb Assist Disabled, and Service Due Soon (orange wrench). It did still shift into gear but when I put the column shifter back on, all is back to normal. Do I need to get the shift module programmed to match the truck? Which module is this located in Forscan? *I did buy a used shifter, could it be the issue?

I bought access to the factory wiring diagrams and compared the '21 to '23, they're all the same and then to the '24. The function of the pins is different for some on the '24 compared to the '21-'23 but I tested each pin for continuity to the corresponding pin and those connections are all the same from 21 to 24. i.e. pin 5 on the console shifter goes to pin 11 on the column shifter. I went through all 11 pins and they all match. This is baffling. Must be something in Forscan that has to be changed to recognize the console shifter. I disconnected the negative terminal before unplugging anything.

I believe the 2024 has an encrypted CANBUS while the 2023 and before do not. I know there were attempts to fit a 2024 IPC into a 2023 and before and it was not successful. Is the shifter a 2024 part or an older one?

I might be talking out of my ass here so I'll defer to someone more experienced.

Thank you I appreciate the brainstorming. Yes I even bought a 24 shifter but even it can also be a 21 to 23 PN according to a compatibility chart on ebay

Did you figure this issue? I understand there is a network authentication/relearn - (TRON) required for the newly installed shitfer. I believe this is done in the GWM. I'm still curious to know if we can do this using Forscan or only with FDRS.

Only what I've seen on the Infotainment website about the fix. I contacted my local dealership to ask if they could do the procedure and they said they'd get back to me. That was about 2 weeks ago.

Sounds good! Please keep me posted on what they say. My parts should be arriving by the end of next week. I haven't found anything on Fordscan yet. I'm thinking about grabbing a 3-day FDRS license for $50, and I’m hoping someone might be able to lend or rent me an adapter for a few days.

Today, I swapped out the bench for a console. I’ve decided not to install the shifter, realizing that I actually need the storage tray more than the shifter. ?

Regarding Forscan, I had to disable the seatbelt check for the bench seat. In the IPC module, there’s a line for the Seat Belt Check, row 1, seat 3 (the seats are numbered from 1 to 5, with 3 being the middle seat) – it should be set to Not Present.
