Anyone else have this issue? Everytime I drive the truck I look back and can see the step unlatched. Is there an adjustment?

Also is the grab handle supposed to lock in when it’s collapsed or just sit there?

Are you saying the step is higher on one side than the other?

So you're seeing it in your mirror popped up like the release button had been pressed?

The grab poll is only held in by the closed step.

Yes, this is exactly the issue. I close it, it’s fully seated as far as I can tell. I’m driving down the road and I see it bouncing up and down on the spring or whatever the mechanism is.

It doesn’t raise up a large amount so sometimes I don’t notice it right away, but it happens every drive.

I took my step apart and removed the spring. Now it sits flush and easily latches. That's why I asked if it was sitting higher on one side as there is only a spring on one side.

I think I figured this out. Took a bit of digging, but I found a post in a different forum about how to adjust the latching mechanism. Apparently this step has been around awhile.

Essentially, if you pull out the step with the tailgate up you can see the screws that hold the latch mechanism. 2 Torx 30 bolts. You loosen them, pull the latch mechanism down, and tighten the bolts. In my case, I only pulled down the left side, because when I pulled down the right side, the button wasn't flush.

So far only 1 drive cycle but it hasn't popped up. Time will tell I guess.

This is a procedure from 2015. Now I didn't exactly follow this, but I read some posts and watched some youtube videos. Thought I'd offer.

I’ll add that while looking at it a second time today (for which it did not pop up). It does appear ever so slightly elevated on one side.

Since latching only occurs on one side and that is the side I adjusted, it’s no surprise that it’s down slightly lower. However I doubt anyone other than I would notice it, as slight as it is.

My eyes have a habit of noticing even the slightest unevenness or something that isn’t straight. Couple that with wanting to make everything perfect and it makes things like painting a real chore. Don’t get me started on Xmas lights lol.

There is probably a happy medium to be had, but it’s too cold for me to go out there and figure it out now. So long as it remains latched that is.
