At first start in the morning, upon pulling out, I get this brief hum/rubbing/grinding feeling. I can feel it in the floor and pedal. Best I can describe, it feels/sounds like brake drag or bad wheel bearing since it is a rotational sound. It only does this a few times for about 20 feet and stops. I thought it may have been the e brake sticking, but I tried without the e brake on over night and still had the noise/hum next morning when pulling out in Drive. I noticed this after I first got the truck, before installing the Ford/Bilstein level kit and 35's. I wonder if I am having issues with the Electronic IWE. I have read on the LARIAT w/ 4A they are engaged for the first 2 miles to warm up the Transfer case. Does anyone else experience this? Thanks!

Rock between your rotor and back guard (someone help with the proper name of this thing)?

I was just in there yesterday when the Tires were off to get re-balanced. I checked the rotor shield and gave it a tap, nothing in there, rotated the axle, no noise or rubbing sound/feeling. It only does it in the morning for the first 20 feet driving forward then goes away. No other issues other than this.

Mine only did it when moving fwd (not reverse). took the wheel off and got in there with a flashlight. Not immediately obvious. maybe you are experiencing something different.

Hmm, I will have to check it again. Did yours do it constantly, or only for the first 20 feet or so, like mine?

My truck did this when I bought my truck. Sounded almost like a little faint turbo/ whining sound but stopped after 20 or so feet driving forward. I now have 10k miles on it and don’t hear it anymore.
I thought maybe being a new truck that it needed some miles put on it to get all the bearings, axles etc meshed together and worn in.

Update: I found that it only does this after I had the Parking Brake engaged overnight. After driving 20-30 feet, it goes away. The times I did not activate the Parking Brake, it did not make this rubbing sound.

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
I bet its the patina of rust that can often appear on brake equipment. I had several Hondas and they are notorious for having that noise first thing in the morning, worse with high humidity.
